Play On Shakespeare today announces an expansive list of compelling actors and dynamic directors confirmed to participate in the Play on! Festival, presented in association with Classic Stage Company (CSC) and Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF). Play on! features 39 readings of new, work-in-progress translations of Shakespeare's plays into contemporary modern English by some of today's most exciting playwrights-May 29-June 30 at the Lynn F. Angelson Theater at CSC (136 E. 13th Street). In 2015, Oregon Shakespeare Festival launched an ambitious 39-play, three-year commissioning project, Play on!, tasking 36 playwrights-more than half of whom were women and playwrights of color, each paired with a dramaturg-to translate Shakespeare's canon in celebration of the enduring impact of the Bard's work. Supported by a generous grant from the Hitz Foundation and inspired by long-time patron Dave Hitz's passion for Shakespeare, the project was and continues to be led by Lue Morgan Douthit. The National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures (NALAC) announced 43 NALAC Fund for the Arts grants today. Totaling $267,000, the awards provide funding to 26 Latinx artists and collectives and 17 Latinx arts organizations in 13 states and Puerto Rico.

One of the theater world's most prestigious playwriting prizes, the Yale Drama Series Prize, was given to Leah Nanako Winkler for her play God Said This. The 2018 award recipient was chosen by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Ayad Akhtar. The winning play received a private staged reading at Lincoln Center Theater's Claire Tow Theater on October 30, 2018.

Soho Rep. announces its 2018-2019 season, with two world premieres that demonstrate the small but flexible space's 'indispensible' (New York Magazine) presence as 'a 70-seat house filled with big ideas' (Hilton Als, The New Yorker). Through singular and irreverent stylistic approaches, Kate Tarker's Thunderbodies,directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz (October 16-November 18, 2018), and Christopher Chen's Passage, directed by Saheem Ali (April 23-May 26, 2019),interrogate the staggering ramifications of U.S and global imperialism.

The Princess Grace Foundation-USA (PGF-USA) has announced the winners of the 2018 Princess Grace Awards. The Awards will be presented at the annual Princess Grace Awards Gala and continue the legacy of Princess Grace (Kelly) of Monaco, who helped emerging artists pursue their artistic goals during Her lifetime. In total, the Foundation is awarding over $1 million to artists in theater, dance, and film. In the presence of Her Serene Highness The Princess of Monaco, this year's Gala will be held at Cipriani 25 Broadway on October 16, 2018. The evening will be co-chaired by Dennis and Phyllis Washington and Anne Sweeney and Phillip Miller.

After 7 years, the producing collaborative Harlem9  has played to packed houses, picking up an OBIE award along the way in 2014.  This April, Harlem9 collaborates with Pregones Theater PRTT, a Latino arts organization in the Bronx for the 2nd time to present "48HOURS IN… EL BRONX".  The two organizations first collaborated in December 2016. This year, the theme takes a tour of some of the most memorable dance clubs in Bronx history.

Salvage Vanguard Theater announces con flama by Sharon Bridgforth. Set in Los Angeles in the 1940s -1970s, con flama gives a glimpse of a Black gurl's coming of age, through Ancestral passages and her family history. The gurl's story unfolds as she makes her way through the cultural landscape of Los Angeles on the bus.

WaterTower Theatre Artistic Director, Joanie Schultz, today announced details for the inaugural DETOUR: A Festival of New Work (March 1 - 4, 2018). This year's Festival will consist of four new play readings, three devised works, and two "late nite" performances.  Highlights from this year's Festival include a reading from Oregon Shakespeare Festival's "Play On!" initiative commissioning modern adaptations of 39 of Shakespeare's works, three new works from rising company Dark Circles Contemporary Dance, the next installment of Brigham Mosley's laugh-out-loud creation, Movies That Should Be Musicals, and more.

A Chronicle of the Madness of Small Worlds, a pairing of two hilariously profound monologues from legendary playwright Mac Wellman's story collection, adapted and directed by Elena Araoz, has extended its run Next Door at New York Theatre Workshop through Sunday, February 11. The production is produced and sponsored by Harvey and Kathleen Guion and Dan McCarthy.

Next Door at New York Theatre Workshop (79 East 4th Street) continues its inaugural season with the New York premiere of Mac Wellman's A Chronicle of the Madness of SmallWorlds, adapted for the stage and directed by Elena Araoz. The production runs in NYTW's newly renovated 65-seat black box space begins performances on January 17. The production is produced and sponsored by Harvey and Kathleen Guion.

The Latinx Theatre Commons (LTC), an active initiative of HowlRound Theatre Commons, based at Emerson College, celebrates the completion of a successful first year of the El Fuego initiative during the 2016-17 season and has announced its continuation for two more seasons through 2018-2019.
