Opening this week at the Marriott Theatre in Chicago's far north suburban collar community of Lincolnshire is one of the first post-Broadway productions of "Hairspray," one of this decade's biggest hits and longest running Broadway shows, based on a hit movie and the basis for yet another....

The Marriott Theatre continues its highly acclaimed 2009 season with Hairspray, the show the New York Post calls "A great big fat gorgeous hit!" This all-new production of the Tony Award-winning international phenomenon explodes onto the Marriott Theatre stage September 23rd. Direct from Broadway, where it played for over 2,500 performances, the production begins previews September 23rd, opens Wednesday, September 30th at 8 p.m., and runs through December 6th, 2009. Chicagoland favorite and multiple Jeff Award winner Marc Robin (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Full Monty), has been tapped to direct and choreograph.

Sweet Charity, the Tony Award winning musical packed with lively choreography previews March 13, opens March 20 and runs through May 18 at Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace

The 34th Annual Jefferson Awards presented seven trophies to House Theatre of Chicago's production of 'The Sparrow.' 'Side Show,' 'Fiorello!' and 'Blues for an Alabama Sky' also took top honors.
