The New York Philharmonic will present Stephen Sondheim's groundbreaking Company, with an all-star cast led by Neil Patrick Harris, star of the hit television series, How I Met Your Mother, on April 7-9, 2011. The award-winning musical will be produced and directed by Lonny Price, who directed and co-produced last season's SONDHEIM: The Birthday Concert!, and will be conducted by Sondheim specialist Paul Gemignani, with the original orchestrations for a 35-piece orchestra by Jonathan Tunick. More details will be announced at a later date.

Deadline.com is reporting that Paramount has moved the release date for its Footloose remake to October 14, 2011.

The nominees for the PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS 2011 were announced this morning by Malin Akerman ('27 Dresses,' 'Watchmen'), Michael Chiklis, ('No Ordinary Family'), Zachary Levi ('Chuck'), AnnaLynne McCord ('90210'), Jeff Probst ('Survivor') and Audrina Patridge ('The Hills'), along with host Queen Latifah and Executive Producer Mark Burnett at The London West Hollywood Hotel. Prior to the announcement, over 35 million votes were cast by fans across the country. Fans were invited to pick new categories and determine the nominees for the annual awards show that celebrates fan favorites in movies, music and television.

And he does it at Baltimore's Center Stage, his hometown. Can it get any better than this?

At long last. In less than a month, Broadway babies in the know will have the surefire showbiz salve of a brand spanking new movie-musical starring Cher and Christina Aguilera to sample - leaving us jubilant, giddy and breathless in its wake. All wrapped up with a pink satin ribbon with a leather and lace bow - it's BURLESQUE. The film also stars Stanley Tucci, Kristen Bell, Alan Cumming, Julianne Hough, Cam Gigandet, Peter Gallagher and Eric Dane and is, without a doubt, sure to be the entertainment event of the year for fans of Broadway and the movie musical genre. When was the last time an original movie musical was attempted on the big screen with two of the biggest stars in music industry history? That - and so much more, as we will soon see - is one step in the complex dance routine of reasons to get the celebration started a little early for the most excitedly awaited event this holiday season - BURLESQUE. Today, we will be taking a look at the story, some songs, the trailer and what exactly makes this tricky musical proposition and composition tick with such fabulous syncopation as we anticipate the world premiere of BURLESQUE in movie theaters nationwide on November 24th, Thanksgiving Day!

As BroadwayWorld has previously reported, production for the highly anticipated remake of Footloose is now in production in anticipation of an April 2011 release date. MacDowell will join Julianne Hough, Kenny Worlmald, Dennis Quaid and Andie MacDowell star in the film. ETOnline recently visited the Footloose set to catch up with star Julianne Hough. According to EW.com, Andie MacDowell is set to play Vi, in the highly anticipated Footloose remake. MacDoweel will join Julianne Hough, Kenny Worlmald, and Dennis Quaid, who will play MacDowell's husband-Reverend Moore. The movie is set to hit theatres in April of 2011, and production will begin in the near future.

This week we are taking a look at the trailer for the upcoming movie musical BURLESQUE starring Cher and Christina Aguilera, as well as checking out two of Christina Aguilera's solo songs from the soundtrack - one classic Etta James cover featured in a new clip just released from the film and an especially exciting, entirely new composition 'Spotlight' written exclusively for Christina for the film - in the backstage tuner that is currently set to be released nationwide on Thanksgiving. Though last Christmas brought the unfortunately unsuccessful $80-million-dollar NINE, perhaps this year's quotidian singular musical entertainment from Hollywood will fare far, far better - it certainly could not be much different in casting, content, style, tone or marketing from what we have seen so far and can see here! TEEN CHOICE 2010, the annual special that celebrates the year's hottest teen icons in film, television, music, sports and fashion, will air Monday, August 9 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. Additionally, Dr Pepper will return as an official sponsor of the star-studded special.

The Hollywood Bowl cast, featuring Vannesa Hudgens, Wayne Brady, Aaron Tveit, Skylar Astin, Tracie Thoms and more opened last night on Friday August 6 at 8:30 pm. Here's a look at the production.

On the weekend of August 6-8, the infamous 17,000-seat Hollywood Bowl plays host to a forcibly-scaled-up version of Jonathan Larson's Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical RENT, directed by none other than Neil Patrick Harris. Harris' challenge-besides honoring a beloved show as well as living up to his stunt casting choices-was to take a relatively-intimate rock musical about financially-strapped bohemians living in the less-than-luxurious Lower East Side enclave of New York City and expand it on the massive stage entrenched in the Hollywood Hills. The results-a mixed bag of technical gaffes, surprisingly excellent performances, and a few disappointments-prove to be admirably and genuinely entertaining overall.

Amid concerts and events this summer at the Hollywood Bowl, a production of Jonathan Larson's Tony-winning RENT is set to run three performances at the Bowl from August 6 through August 8, 2010. The cast for this production will be announced at a later date.

Sterling spoke in detail with the show's star-studded cast and director about the upcoming performances at one of the world's most renowned venues.

RENT, written by Jonathan Larson, will be performed at the Hollywood Bowl for three performances only, Friday and Saturday August 6 and 7 at 8:30pm, and Sunday August 8 at 7:30pm. Neil Patrick Harris will direct the production, with musical direction by Tim Weil and choreography by Jamal Sims. The cast includes Skylar Astin, Wayne Brady, Vanessa Hudgens, Telly Leung, Collins Pennie, Nicole Scherzinger, Tracie Thoms, and Aaron Tveit.

Following an extensive worldwide search, newcomer Kenny Wormald will play the highly coveted role of ‘Ren', opposite previously announced star Julianne Hough as ‘Ariel'. Dennis Quaid also joins the cast in the role of ‘Reverend Moore', along with Miles Teller as ‘Willard'.

As Broadway continues to bend in a direction of seeking Hollywood names for the stage, it seems it is only a matter of time before Zac Efron, former star of Disney's High School Musical, makes the shortlist for some production. His former High School Musical star, Corbin Bleu, is currently starring in In the Heights on Broadway. Another High School Musical alumna (and Efron's real-life girlfriend) Vanessa Hudgens will take the stage as 'Mimi' in Rent at the Hollywood Bowl this summer.
