WEST SIDE STORY to Open 9/4 at Ogunquit Playhouse

West Side Story, one of the greatest love stories of all time, opens on the Ogunquit Playhouse stage September 4 through September 28. This all new production of the timeless classic, helmed by Broadway veteran director BT McNicholl, mesmerizes audiences of all ages from the first note to the final breath. The Bernstein and Sondheim score is considered to be one of Broadway's finest and features beloved American musical theatre classics including "Something's Coming," "Tonight," "America," "I Feel Pretty" and "Somewhere." With a set designed exclusively for the Ogunquit Playhouse by Michael Schweikardt, an extraordinary cast and an iconic score soaring throughout, theatre goers will fall in love with West Side Story all over again.

HANDS ON A HARDBODY Cast and Creatives Set for Barnes & Noble, 9/4; Birdland, 9/29

Ghostlight Records will celebrate their Original Broadway Cast Recording of the new musical HANDS ON A HARDBODYwith two special events in September. Amanda Green, the show's co-composer and lyricist and book writer Doug Wright, as well as several stars of the show, will appear at an in-store performance and CD signing at Barnes & Noble on the Upper East Side (150 East 86th Street, between Lexington and Third Avenues). The event will feature original Broadway cast members Keith Carradine, Keala Settle, Janet Krupin, Corey March, Kathleen Elizabeth Monteleone, Jim Newman, Connie Ray, Jon Rua and Dale Soules.

Gerard Canonico and More Set for York Theatre Company's Developmental Reading of A GIRL CALLED VINCENT Today

The York Theatre Company, launches the NEODevelopmental Reading Series with the workshop presentation of the new musical, A Girl Called Vincent, based on the poetry of Edna St. Vincent Millay, with music written and composed by Carmel Dean, directed by Dick Scanlon and music direction by Charity Wicks. The six-member cast will feature Gerard Canonico, Van Hughes, Tamika Sonja Lawrence, Kelvin Moon Loh, Bonnie Milligan and Dani Shay. A single performance is scheduled for today, August 8, 2013 at 3:00pm.

Balagan Theatre and New York City producer Katie Tomlinson Diamond presented a season preview party in June of Nirvanov, featuring television and stage star C.S. Lee (Dexter) and Van Hughes (American Idiot: The Musical, national tour) as rock legend Kurt Cobain/Nirvanov. Kirsten Delohr Helland and Williams A. Williams perform 'Faded and Jaded' from the show. John Brancy and Mario Antonio Marra Win 2013 Music Academy of the West Marilyn Horne Song Competition

Baritone John Brancy and pianist Mario Antonio Marra have been named winners of the 2013 Music Academy of the West Marilyn Horne Song Competition, which took place July 20 at the Music Academy's Hahn Hall. Messrs. Brancy and Marra will each receive a cash award of $2,500, and will be presented in recital next year at Hahn Hall, Santa Monica's Broad Stage, and the National Opera Center in New York City. Tenor Andrew Haji was the recipient of an Encouragement Award. Biographies appear below.

Tonya Pinkins Joins THE POP SHOW PRESENTS...ELTON JOHN! at Birdland Tonight

Tony Award winner Tonya Pinkins (Caroline, or Change, Play On!, Jelly's Last Jam, 'All My Children') has joined the lineup for tonight's May 27 edition of The Pop Show, part of the Broadway at Birdland series at Birdland Jazz Club. The 7pm concert will feature songs from the Elton John catalog.
