Burning Coal Theatre Company of Raleigh, NC will present Conor McPherson's The Seafarer February 4 - 21, 2010 at Meymandi Theatre at the Murphey School, 224 Polk Street, Raleigh.

Stephen Sondheim, Harold Prince, James Gandolfini, Patti LuPone, Liz Smith, Christine Ebersole, Lesley Stahl, Joni Evans, Cynthia McFadden, and Michael Feinstein were just a few of the stars who gathered at the Carlyle Hotel last night to celebrate the 85th birthday of its most famous resident, Elaine Stritch. In honor of the event, Stritch herself celebrated with an hour long performance of 'At Home At The Carlyle: Elaine Stritch Singin' Sondheim...One Song At A Time.'

The Ensemble Studio Theatre will present a world premiere dark comedy based on a true story, LENIN'S EMBALMERS, by Canadian playwright Vern Thiessen and directed by William Carden. LENIN'S EMBALMERS, part of the Ensemble Studio Theatre/Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Science & Technology Project, begins previews March 3 for an opening March 8 at the Ensemble Studio Theatre, 549 West 52nd Street.

Erich Steinbock, Managing Director of The Carlyle Hotel, announced today the return of resident leading lady, Elaine Stritch, to the Café Carlyle in an all-new show: 'At Home At The Carlyle: Elaine Stritch Singin' Sondheim. . . One Song At A Time.' The strictly limited engagement will play the month of January 2010, at the legendary nightspot, with opening night set for Tuesday, January 5 (through January 30).

While she obviously spends a lot of time working on the administrative requirements of running a theatre company in Nashville, she also finds time to display her many talents onstage. Most recently, she starred in the company's critically acclaimed (which means I really liked it) production of The Great American Trailer Park Musical. And somehow, in the aftermath of that show and amid all the hubbub of the holiday season, Cathy found time to sit down and respond to our questions. THE PEARL THEATRE COMPANY has announced that actress and director Amy Wright will direct the company's spring production, THE SUBJECT WAS ROSES. This honor is conferred to a theatre professional known for their dedication to Off-Broadway. Phil Perry is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet - and one of the hardest working actors on the Nashville stage.
