Screen and stage actor, writer, and director Zach Braff will host the Huntington Theatre Company's 2011 Spotlight Spectacular! gala benefit on Monday, May 9, 2011 at the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel. The event will honor Boston playwright Lydia R. Diamond and Trustee Bill McQuillan with The Wimberly Award, the Huntington's highest honor. The evening's entertainment will be announced shortly.
Seattle Repertory Theatre is now accepting applications from Washington high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors to compete in the August Wilson Monologue Competition. Seattle Finals will be held March 2, 2011 at Seattle Rep. Participants will perform a three-minute monologue from one of August Wilson's plays. The top three winners of the Seattle Finals will receive cash prizes ($500, $250 and $100) and a trip to New York City to participate in the National Finals on Broadway at the August Wilson Theatre in May 2011.
