Marin Theatre Now Booking for 2014 School Tour of RAPUNZEL, 1/13-2/7

Marin Theatre Company is now booking for its 2014 School Tour of Rapunzel, written by Mike Kenny, directed by Daunielle Rasmussen, MTC's Director of Education, and featuring actors Tristan Cunningham, Britney Frazier and Julianna Rees. Now in its seventh year, MTC's School Tour program brings professional theater productions to Bay Area elementary schools and libraries. Bookings for Rapunzel are available from January 13 through February 7, 2014.

California Shakespeare Theater Presents A WINTER'S TALE, Now thru 10/20

California Shakespeare Theater has announced it will conclude its 2013 season with one of Shakespeare's rarely-performed gems, A Winter's Tale. Directed by Patricia McGregor and choreographed by Paloma McGregor, the sister team responsible for last season's critical and popular hit, Spunk, A Winter's Tale plays at the Bruns Amphitheater from tonight, September 25 through October 20.

Aurora Theatre Continues 21st Season with New Translation of THE ARSONISTS, Now thru 5/12

What is the great evil we are failing to face up to today? Award-winning Bay Area auteur Mark Jackson (Salomania, Metamorphosis, Salome, Miss Julie) returns to Aurora Theatre Company to direct British playwright Alistair Beaton's elegant new translation of THE ARSONISTS, Max Frisch's classic comic parable about appeasement (sometimes known as Beidermann and the Firebugs or Fire Raisers). Featuring Dan Hiatt, Tim Kniffin, and Michael Ray Wisely, along with Kevin Clarke, Tristan Cunningham, Gwen Loeb, Dina Percia, and Michael Uy Kelly, THE ARSONISTS plays tonight, April 5 through May 12 at the Aurora Theatre in Berkeley.

Cutting Ball Theater Extend TENDERLOIN Run to June 3

Cutting Ball Theater has announced that it will add an additional four performances of its current hit production of TENDERLOIN, a World Premiere about the people and places in Cutting Ball Theater's neighborhood. Written by Annie Elias, with theater documentarians Tristan Cunningham, Siobhan Doherty, Rebecca Frank, Michael Uy Kelly, Leigh Shaw, and David Sinaiko (with additional writing by David Westley Skillman), and directed by Elias, TENDERLOIN plays now through June 3 (added performances: Thursday, May 31, 7:30pm; Friday, June 1, 8pm; Saturday, June 2, 8pm; Sunday, June 3, 5pm).

African-American Shakespeare Company's JULIUS CAESAR Closes 4/1

San Francisco's African-American Shakespeare Company continues its 2011-12 season with a thrilling production of William Shakespeare's JULIUS CAESAR. Directed by renowned actor and playwright Michael Gene Sullivan (San Francisco Mime Troupe) and featuring a small ensemble cast, African-American Shakespeare Company's version of JULIUS CAESAR highlights the similarities between the politicians who will say anything, and do anything, to win.

San Francisco Circus Community to Honor Peggy Ford, 3/13

The international clown, circus and theatre communities will come together 7pm, Tuesday, March 13 at the Z Space (formerly Theatre Artaud), 450 Florida St., San Francisco, for an evening of laughter, gags, graceful acrobatics, and uproarious pratfalls, to pay a joyful, loving tribute to one of its own, Peggy Ford, a major figure in the Bay Area and national circus communities, who died in January after several years of illness.
