GOOD PEOPLE, BELLEVILLE, et al. Included in Steppenwolf's 2012-13 Season

Steppenwolf Theatre Company Artistic Director Martha Lavey announced today the 2012/13 Subscription Season, including a Steppenwolf-commissioned world premiere and the work of fifteen ensemble members. The season begins in Steppenwolf's Downstairs Theatre with David Lindsay-Abaire's Good People, directed by ensemble member K. Todd Freeman. Up next, ensemble member Anna D. Shapiro directs The Motherf**ker with the Hat by Stephen Adly Guirgis. In the Upstairs Theatre, ensemble member Austin Pendleton directs The Birthday Party by Harold Pinter. In April 2013, ensemble member Tina Landau directs the Steppenwolf-commissioned world premiere of Head of Passes by ensemble member Tarell Alvin McCraney, their first collaboration since the widely-praised The Brother/Sister Plays (2010). The season concludes with Belleville by Amy Herzog, directed by Anne Kauffmann.

Mary-Arrchie Theatre Co. Extends SUPERIOR DONUTS

After three sold out weeks, Mary-Arrchie Theatre Co. today announced that Superior Donuts by Pulitzer Prize winner Tracy Letts has been Jeff Recommended and will be extended through May 6th, 2012. Performances are Thursdays-Saturdays at 8 PM and Sundays at 3 PM. Tickets are $18 on Thursdays and Sundays, $20 on Fridays and $22 on Saturdays. Last night before a crowd of 200 theatre makers and theatre lovers, theatreWashington announced the nominees for the 28th Helen Hayes Awards. The National Theatre's Helen Hayes Gallery set the scene for the announcement of nominees in 26 categories for artistic excellence and the announcement of the recipient of the 2012 John Aniello Award for Outstanding Emerging Theatre Company. The Helen Hayes Awards is one of the most prestigious honors for artists and theatre companies in Washington's vibrant theatre scene.

Tennessee Repertory Theatre will present the Middle Tennessee premiere of Superior Donuts by Tracy Letts, who won the 2008 Tony Award for his play August: Osage County. Superior Donuts runs March 17 - 31 at TPAC's Johnson Theater (with preview performances March 15 - 16).

Confirmed: Meryl Streep And Julia Roberts Cast In AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY

It's official. According to Deadline Hollywood, Meryl Streep will play Violet Weston and Julia Roberts will play Weston's adult daughter, Barbara, in the film version of the Tony Award-winning Broadway play, August: Osage County, written by Tracy Letts. John Wells directs. August follows the Weston family women as their lives suddenly clash when family troubles arise and foce them to return to the Midwest house they grew up in, as well as the unorthodox woman who raised them. The Weinstein Company's Harvey and Bob Weinstein announced Wednesday that the film that will go into production this fall.

Mary-Arrchie Theatre Co. will open Superior Donuts by Pulitzer Prize winner Tracy Letts on Thursday, February 16 at 8 p.m. Performances continue Thursdays-Saturdays at 8 PM and Sundays at 3 PM through March 25. Tickets are $18 on Thursdays and Sundays, $20 on Fridays and $22 on Saturdays. There will be previews on February 14 and 15 at 8 p.m. Tickets for previews will be $5.
