Light In The Attic's Japan Archival Series continues with Kanky? Ongaku: Japanese Ambient, Environmental & New Age Music 1980-1990, an unprecedented overview of the country's vital minimal, ambient, avant-garde, and New Age music. This release is the first-ever fully licensed collection of this music, and marks the first time that these recordings will be made available outside of Japan.

Now in his 90s, innovative and influential director Peter Brook is still making theater. 30 years ago, he staged a 9 hour marathon depicting portions of the great Hindu epic THE MAHABARATA to wide acclaim and some controversy. With BATTLEFIELD, he and his collaborator Marie-Helene Estienne return to that source material for an elegiac and stripped down 70 minute meditation on life, death, and how to resist despair.

Following the stunning success of The Suit, which played to standing ovations and sold-out houses at American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) in 2014, legendary director Peter Brook returns to A.C.T. with Battlefield (April 26-May 21, 2017).

From Indonesia's most celebrated director, Garin Nugroho, comes Satan Jawa, a newly commissioned silent feature film steeped in Javanese mythology with a live score by Australia's Iain Grandage and Indonesia's Rahayu Supanggah featuring a thrilling blend of Western symphonic tradition and Indonesian gamelan music. Satan Jawa will be a feature of Asia TOPA and will be performed at Arts Centre Melbourne's Hamer Hall on 24 February 2017.

The United States premiere of the internationally acclaimed new work written and directed by Peter Brook and Marie-Helene Estienne, The Valley of Astonishment, featuring Kathryn Hunter (A Midsummer Night's Dream, Kafka's Monkey), Marcello Magni (Fragments), and Jared McNeill (The Suit), begins previews Sunday, September 14, at 7:30pm for an opening Thursday, September 18,at 7:30pm and a run through Sunday, October 5, at Theatre for a New Audience, Polonsky Shakespeare Center, 262 Ashland Place.
