The new Broadway Cast Recording of PROMISES, PROMISES was released nationwide physically and digitally on June 22, 2010 and is produced by Grammy Award winners David Caddick and David Lai. For the first time in over forty years PROMISES, PROMISES returns to the stage starring Emmy Award winner Sean Hayes and Tony and Emmy Award winner Kristin Chenoweth. Directed and choreographed by Tony and Emmy Award winner Rob Ashford, this new production of PROMISES, PROMISES, with Neil Simon's funny and touching book and Burt Bacharach and Hal David's hit-packed score, opened at the Broadway Theatre Sunday, April 25, 2010.

Yesterday, June 22, Sean Hayes, Kristin Chenoweth, Tony Goldwyn, Katie Finneran and Dick Latessa hosted a special 'Talk Back' and Q&A sessions as well as a CD signing in celebration of the new Broadway cast recording of Promises, Promises (available now via online and retail outlets. Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peters will host the 12th annual BROADWAY BARKS!, a star-studded dog and cat adopt-a-thon benefiting New York City animal shelters and adoption agencies. The event, produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS is sponsored by the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) and Pedigree® Food for Dogs with additional sponsorship by the New York Times. The event will take place on Saturday, July 10th in Shubert Alley (located between 44th and 45th Streets, between Broadway and Eighth Avenue). The festivities begin at 3:30 p.m.; celebrity presentations of pets from citywide animal shelters will take place between 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.

Today, in honor of the Tony Awards on Sunday, we close out the season with the last two recordings related to the 2009-2010 Broadway season with an exclusive First Listen to the PROMISES, PROMISES Broadway Revival Recording starring Sean Hayes and Kristin Chenoweth courtesy of the kind folks at Sony, as well as the Original Broadway Cast Recording of THE ADDAMS FAMILY starring Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth. These recordings certainly offer strong proof of the best - and worst - that Broadway has to offer in the modern age. Everything old may be new again in the case of PROMISES, but everything new is tired old-hat as far as ADDAMS goes as we will soon see.
Mantello Helms Baitz's THE OTHER DESERT CITIES at Lincoln Center in '10-'11; Opts out of Bway Run

The New York Times reports today that Jon Robin Baitz's THE OTHER DESERT CITIES, to be directed by Joe Mantello, will be produced at the Mitzi Newhouse Theatre at Lincoln Center off-Broadway in the 2010-2011 season. The production had been aiming for a Broadway run next year, however, the Baitz has now decided that show show is better suited for a smaller production at the moment, and will open at the Newhouse on January 13, 2011. Previews will begin on December 16, 2010.

On her Twitter, Kristin Chenoweth writes 'I'm coming back to show tonight. Not well, but better. :).' Understudy Sarah Jane Everman has been playing the role of Fran Kubelik while Chenoweth recovers from what she's described as 'Throat infection I think and terrible acid reflux.'

On Monday, May 24 at 8 pm, Tony-nominated actors Kate Burton and Michael Cumpsty will star in a reading of THE POETS' THEATRE: Elizabeth Bishop & Robert Lowell at the 92nd Street Y. Sixty-three years after they were supposed to meet at the 92nd Street Y, star-crossed poets and long-time pen pals Elizabeth Bishop and Robert Lowell will get another chance. Burton and Cumpsty will read from Bishop and Lowell's letters and poetry, drawing on the 2008 book, Words in Air: The Complete Correspondence Between Elizabeth Bishop and Robert Lowell (out by Faber and Faber).
