FROST/NIXON Bring Its Famed Interview To Portland, Previews 4/14

Portland Center Stage presents Frost/Nixon, the play that became the Oscar-nominated film, about the conversation between David Frost and Richard Nixon that irrevocably changed the media's relationship to the American presidency. Frost/Nixon previews on Tuesday April 14th, opens on Friday, April 17th and runs through May 10th, 2009.

Portland Center Stage presents Frost/Nixon, the play that became the Oscar-nominated film, about the conversation between David Frost and Richard Nixon that irrevocably changed the media's relationship to the American presidency. Frost/Nixon previews on Tuesday April 14th, opens on Friday, April 17th and runs through May 10th, 2009. Tickets range from $30.00 to $66.50, with student and under 30 discounts available. Rush tickets for Frost/Nixon are $15 and available starting 10 minutes prior to curtain. Show times are 7:30 pm Tuesday through Saturday, with a 2:00 pm Sunday matinee and alternating Saturday 2:00 pm and Sunday 7:30 pm performances. Michael Attenborough will direct the European premiere of Andrew Bovell's When the Rain Stops Falling which runs at the Almeida from 14 May - 4 July 2009 with press night on 21 May. Designs are by Miriam Buether with lighting by Colin Grenfell, music by Stephen Warbeck, sound by Paul Arditti and movement by Imogen Knight.

Tricycle Theater Presents THE GREAT GAME: AFGHANISTAN

The Tricycle Theatre will present The Great Game: Afghanistan from 17 April - 14 June 2009, a festival exploring Afghan culture and history through fifteen plays, a ten day film programme, Qawali Sham Sufi Group concert, ceramic and photographic exhibitions, discussion sessions, writers' talks and play readings (in conjunction with the National Theatre Studio). Previews for The Great Game: Afghanistan begin on 17 April with a press day on 24 April. In addition, the Tricycle's Education Department will produce a series of projects to support the Festival.

Variety is reporting that 'Frost/Nixon' playwright and screenwriter Peter Morgan is set to make his directorial debut on a film that would be the third movie in the Tony Blair trilogy launched in 2003 by Stephen Frears' British TV movie 'The Deal' and followed by 'The Queen.'

Macfadyen was tasked to play John Birt, the founding editor of London Weekend Television's (LWT) Weekend World and onetime director general of the BBC. A powerful figure in British television for more than three decades, he would go on to become special advisor to Prime Minister Tony Blair in 2001. Birt co-produced the Frost/Nixon interviews with Frost and organized the team that prepared the program's host for battle.

Liberation Entertainment has concluded a deal with Sir David Frost and his production company, David Paradine Television Inc, to secure the North American distribution rights to the entire broadcast footage of the historical Frost Nixon TV interviews from 1977. These interviews drew the largest audience ever for a news interview in the history of television.
