The Bickford Theatre at the Morris Museum presents Danny Bacher and his All-Star Band in concert on Thursday, July 12, as part of the popular Summer JazzFest. The show, "Accentuate the Positive," draws on tunes from his soon-to-be-released "Still Happy" CD as well as his exciting salute to Louis Armstrong, Louis Jordan and Louis Prima from his best-selling debut CD. Danny will also premiere several new arrangements including a tribute to the great Johnny Mercer. The All-Stars will feature Harry Allen on tenor sax, Charlie Caranicas on trumpet, Allen Farnham on piano, Bill Moring on bass, and Alvester Garnett on drums. The food truck picnic begins at 5:30 and the concert at 7:30.

Austin's Latin Rock Pioneers have released their newest single titled, Recaida. This new single embodies Boca Abajo's signature Roots Rock Sound mixed with true Latin Rock Beats. 'This song is a culmination of several different styles that we grew up listening to. Recaída was recorded and mixed in the 'Live Music Capital of the World' by engineer and musician Gildardo Gonzalez, former bass player of Mexican rock mega group Genitallica. The final master was engineered by Charlie Kransky who spent time engineering at Avatar Studios in New York. He has worked with artists such as Paul McCartney, Tony Bennett, Elvis Costello, Lenny Kravitz and now Boca Abajo.
Recaída is Boca Abajo's first 2018 release and is adding another step in to what has been a great musical journey for this Austin based band. Their unique sound of Latin beat mixed with their Roots Rock sound has proven to be a hit in this new single titled 'Recaída.'

Jessica Lang Dance (JLD) announced today a significant donation of $500,000 from Ann and Weston Hicks. The Hicks' leadership gift is the largest single gift the organization has received to date. This gift supports the company's growth, capacity building and organizational development, as well as touring, artistic work, and performances. The donation also comes with a challenge to other supporters of JLD to match the Hicks' gift in order to achieve a $1 million fundraising goal by the end of 2018. Nearly half of the match has been raised within two months.
Classical singer and musical actress Aimee Marcoux, whose true-life story came to the big screen in the acclaimed 2017 Sony release All Saints, will take the stage on Tony Awards Sunday, June 10 at 7pm at The Triad Theater (158 West 72nd Street) to offer Summer with Sondheim, a collection of Sondheim compositions from his beloved Broadway musicals. Marcoux will offer her lively interpretations of such standards as "Being Alive" and "The Ladies Who Lunch" from Company, "Johanna" from Sweeny Todd and the title song from "Anyone Can Whistle".
