Tom Nelis Stars in, Aaron Posner and Teller Direct A.R.T.'s THE TEMPEST, Beg. Tonight in Las Vegas

The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) at Harvard University, under the leadership of Diane Paulus, Artistic Director and William Russo, Managing Director, presents the last production of its 2013/14 Season, THE TEMPEST, adapted and directed by Aaron Posner and Teller from the play by William Shakespeare, with magic by Teller, music by Tom Waits and Kathleen Brennan, and movement by Matt Kent of Pilobolus.

Anita Gillette, Mary Lahti, Billie Roe & More Take Home 2014 Mac Awards

Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs (MAC), dedicated to advancing the art and business of live entertainment, held their 28th Annual MAC Awards celebration last evening at BB King's Blues club in Times Square. Winners in twenty-five categories were announced. The show was hosted by the vivacious singer, band leader, multiple MAC Award winner and 2014 Nominee, Terese Genecco. The gala was produced by Julie Miller and directed by Lennie Watts, the current MAC President. Don Rebic served as Musical Director. Presenters included Will Friedwald of the Wall Street Journal and designer Bob Mackie.

Stewart D'Arrietta to Perform A CONCERT OF TOM WAITS SONGS at Arts Centre Melbourne, April 24 & 26

The vaudevillian characters of Tom Waits music will come to life on stage in A Concert of Tom Waits Songs presented by Arts Centre Melbourne on Thursday 24 and Saturday 26 April 8pm, 2014 at Arts Centre Melbourne's Fairfax Studio. After a nine-month sell-out run in New York, international cabaret star Stewart D'Arrietta will take audiences on a rollicking journey through Waits' legendary songs, accompanied by renowned Australian guitarist Ross Hannaford (Daddy Cool / the Black Sorrows / Goanna), double bassist Philip Rex and drummer Danny Fischer.

he Theatre Centre presents Cabaret brise-jour, created by Quebec-based L'orchestre d'hommes-orchestres (LODHO), from today, Mar. 25 to 29. The second production presented at The Theatre Centre's new venue and permanent home at 1115 Queen St. W., Cabaret brise-jour retraces the controversial path taken by exiled musician Kurt Weill throughout his career, infusing his songs with everything from punk rock to hip hop and recreating his impressive musical world of 1928 to 1949 on stage.

David Neumann to Premiere New Solo Works at MASS MoCA's Hunter Center, 4/26

Interdisciplinary choreographer David Neumann will present an evening of solos April 26 at 8pm at MASS MoCA's Hunter Center for the Performing Arts. A co-presentation by Jacob's Pillow Dance and MASS MoCA, the retrospective evening spans Neumann's career from his first choreographic endeavor, DOSE, to his current work-in-progress, I Understand Everything Better. The program, also including tough the tough (redux) (2008) and You Are In Control (2009), captures Neumann's exploration of lines between theatre and dance, audience and performer, movement and voice, mundane and theatrical.

Spottiswoode & His Enemies release their sixth studio recording, English Dream on April 15, 2014 via Old Soul Records. A.R.T.'s Re-Imagined Production of THE TEMPEST Will Now Play Smith Center Through 4/27

The Smith Center for the Performing Arts has now added a third and final week of performances for the world premiere of THE TEMPEST, which will now play April 6-27, with special preview performances April 1-4. The opening night celebration will take place on Saturday, April 5. Produced in association with the American Reparatory Theater (A.R.T.), THE TEMPEST is adapted and directed by Aaron Posner and Teller from the play by William Shakespeare, with magic by Teller, music by Tom Waits and Kathleen Brennan and movement by Matt Kent of Pilobolus. THE TEMPEST will perform at The Smith Center's Donald W. Reynolds Symphony Park in a 500-seat climate-controlled tent. Tickets start at $35 for regular performances and $25 for preview performances. Tickets for the opening night celebration are $150 and include an exclusive post-show reception.
