The Duchess Theatre presents Endgame by Samuel Beckett. In Beckett's one act play the aged and blind Hamm and his servant Clov co-exist in a mutually dependent and fractious relationship, with only Hamm's parents, Nell and Nagg, legless from a biking accident, for company. They are condemned to a daily routine sealed off from the void outside.

Olivier and Tony Award-winning actor Mark Rylance joins the company of Simon McBurney's production of Endgame as Hamm, taking over the role from Richard Briers. Simon McBurney will now play the role of Clov for the duration of the run. Rylance and McBurney will be joined by Miriam Margolyes as previously announced, and Tom Hickey as Nagg. To facilitate the cast changes, the production will now open on 15 October, with previews from 2 October, and run until 5 December.

As part of their ongoing celebration of 22 years in Chicago theatre, Strawdog Theatre Company proudly announces the hiring of new Managing Director Hank Boland, new General Manager Cortney Hurley, the addition of four new ensemble members: Amy Dunlap, Paul Fagen, Mike Przygoda and Justine C. The productions run Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 4 and 8 p.m., and Sunday at 7 p.m.

Chekhov's dark comedy follows the aristocratic Gayev family as they return to their beloved orchard estate, desperate to save it from foreclosure. 'Cherry Orchard' was the last play written by Chekhov, whose esteemed canon includes 'Uncle Vanya,' 'The Seagull' and 'Three Sisters.' 'Cherry Orchard' runs about two hours with one intermission, and includes free admittance to Strawdog Late Night following the Friday and Saturday shows (Late Night schedule available on www.strawdog.org).

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts presents DRUID theater company in a double bill of The Shadow of the Glen and The Playboy of the Western World in the Terrace Theater October 22-25, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Center's etcetera! series.

For the second year running, Seanachai teams with the Storefront Theatre to showcase another large cast production, this time set in the North of Ireland. With only a murmur heard of the Troubles that simmer under the surface, McCafferty's 'marvelous, engrossing, ensemble play' smashes the big picture into vivid snapshots of a single day of contemporary Belfast life. Originally presented by London's Royal National Theatre in 2003, this tale of 'lust, loss, hope, anger, grief, tenacity, old age [and] young fury' makes its Midwest premiere under the splendid direction of Scott Cummins.
