The Tony Award-winning AVENUE Q celebrated its first anniversary at New World Stages yesterday, October 21, 2010. After a triumphant, six-year run on Broadway, AVENUE Q continued its record of unexpected accomplishments last fall when the show's producers made the surprise announcement on the musical's Broadway closing night that they were, in fact, moving AVENUE Q to New World Stages, a mere five blocks away from the Golden Theatre, where the show had delighted audiences of all ages for more than 2,500 performances on Broadway. AVENUE Q began preview performances at New World Stages on October 9, 2009, officially opened on October 21, and continues to play to large and happy audiences one year later. New Line Theatre, 'The Bad Boy of Musical Theatre,' has been granted the first production rights in the country for the American regional premiere of the Broadway rockabilly musical CRY-BABY, based on John Waters' cult classic film starring Johnny Depp. The original creative team is revising the show for New Line, to make it a smaller, more intimate musical, and it will run here next season, for four weeks in spring 2012.

Science Channel general manager and executive vice president of programming Debbie Myers announced today that the network is partnering with film and television star Wilmer Valderrama and his WV Enterprises and Emmy Award-winning executive producer Tom Forman of RelativityREAL to produce BUGGING OUT. An all-new series about the little-known world of exotic (and sometimes creepy) insects, BUGGING OUT is set to debut in 2011.
