George Takei joins the cast of Nickelodeon's brand-new live-action comedy series, Supah Ninjas, one of five original series premiering on Nickelodeon in early 2011. Comic book in tone and cinematic in style, the half-hour series follows three unsuspecting kids who are drafted into the secret world of crime-fighting after Mike Fukanaga, an average high school student, discovers he is descended from a long line of ninjas. He is helped along the way by the spirit of his recently deceased grandfather (Takei), who appears to him and the team of 'Supah Ninjas' as an interactive hologram who offers guidance, wisdom and training. Picked up for 26 episodes, Nickelodeon will air a special preview of Supah Ninjas on Monday, January 17 at 9:00PM (ET/PT), following back-to-back premieres of the hit comedy series Victorious starring Victoria Justice.

This 41-minute film sheds light on the extraordinary prehistoric underwater world and its larger-than-life creatures, which, with their daunting size and natural ability for predation, were ruling the seas 20 million years before dinosaurs roamed the earth.
Moviegoers will meet Julie, an imaginative young woman, as she travels from a modern-day aquarium to the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous periods. Viewers will explore an amazing underwater universe inhabited by, among other animals, the powerful Liopleurodon, the long-necked Elasmosaurus, Ophthalmosaurus or 'eye lizard,' the ferocious Prognathodon, and the gigantic 75-foot Shonisaurus. The film was shot in studio and on location at various museums in Paris and London, as well as in Egypt and New Zealand to capture the aerial, landscape, and underwater scenes.

The New York Times has gotten more information on the story, talking to both Arthur Laurents and to Stephen Sondheim who told them that Warner Brothers and Joel Silver are on board as producers, and that he'd (Laurents) suggested Tom Hanks for Herbie, an idea that he says Barbra Streisand loved.
Laurents also says that Streisand is no longer going to direct the film, as she once wanted to but instead will just play the part.
