GREASE is still the word, as Australian theatre producer John Frost today revealed the cast and tour dates for his new multi-million dollar production of GREASE, which will open as an Australian premiere at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) on 27 August 2013.

According to The West Australian, Michael Cormick will jump into the role of Daddy Warbucks in Annie on Aug. 7 to replace Anthony Warlow, who is set to play the same role in Broadway's production of Annie, which opens Nov. 8 at the Palace Theatre. Australia's Annie opens at Perth's Burswood Theatre on Aug. 24.

A polite smattering of applause rang around The Regent Theatre at the conclusion of last nights opening of Annie. Then came a hesitant standing ovation almost out of forced habit. For this production of Annie, filled with a cast of the highest order, was performed with a great deal of precision and technicality, but which,however, left me with an ambivalent feeling of....oh yeah. Australian theatre royalty Anthony Warlow and Nancye Hayes take on the roles of Daddy Warbucks and Miss Hannigan. The pairs acting skill is both effortless and flawless and we all know Warlow's voice cuts deep into the crevices of our own body and has the ability to illicit spontaneous excitement within us.

Sony Music Entertainment and The Gordon Frost Organisation today announced the release of the Australian cast recording of the new production of ANNIE which was recorded on Opening Night, January 5, 2012 at the Lyric Theatre, Sydney. This is the third production of ANNIE to be staged in Australia, the first in 1978-9 and the second in 2000. ANNIE plays at the Lyric Theatre, The Star until March 25 before moving on to Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth.

Show business legend Nancye Hayes will play the tyrannical Miss Hannigan who runs the orphanage where Annie begins her journey. This is the third Australian production of Annie that Nancye has been involved with, having played Lily St Regis in the original production and been Resident Director for the second.
