Casita Maria Center For Arts & Education and Bronx Music Heritage Center are proud to present the South Bronx Culture Trail Festival 2018: Somos Unidos. This fun, family-friendly festival celebrates the rich cultural contributions of the communities that make the South Bronx their home. In partnership with community based organizations, city agencies and charities, multiple events will be held throughout the South Bronx from May 31 through June 23, 2018 uniting communities, arts, culture, and wellness while promoting civic engagement.

This includes the creation of new Company works, scholarships for students at the renown Ballet Hispanico School of Dance, and numerous community arts and educational programs.

Ballet Hispanico honored Latin music superstars Emilio & Gloria Estefan with the Nuestra Inspiracion Award; legendary fashion designer Carolina Herrera with the Toda Una Vida Award; and businessman and community activist Marcos Torres with the Civic Inspiration Award; at its annual CARNAVAL Gala on Monday, May 7, 2018 at The Plaza Hotel's Grand Ballroom, 768 Fifth Avenue, NYC. Proceeds, which totaled over $1.1 million last year, benefit the creation of new choreographic works, much needed scholarships for young people, and immersive dance programs for communities around the world.

On a typical Monday evening, most folks find themselves on their way home after a long day of work, beginning to unwind for the night, or enjoying the spring evening outside sitting on a bench or having a nice glass of wine. But May 7, 2018 was a special evening to celebrate the impact of Latino leaders at the Ballet Hispanico CARNAVAL gala at The Plaza Hotel in New York City. In addition to being the company's annual fundraiser, it is also a time to celebrate the impact of Ballet Hispanico in communities across the nation while honoring four pioneers and influential Latino leaders whose contributions have made them a major force in their respective fields around the world.

Experience a fun-filled journey through Latin American dance and culture at our En Familia performance at United Palace, 4140 Broadway & W. 175th Street. Ballet Hispanico returns to White Bird for one night only, on Wednesday, May 16 at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall with an inspiring program featuring the works of three prominent Latina choreographers; Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Michelle Manzanales, and Tania Peres-Salas.  The New York-based company led by Artistic Director and CEO Eduardo Vilaro performs work with "bold technique that illuminates concerns of Latino/a identity and resiliency," (The Village Voice)

The Juilliard School today announced that alumnus Wynton Marsalis, trumpeter, director of Juilliard Jazz Studies, and artistic director of Jazz at Lincoln Center, will address the graduates at the school's 113th commencement ceremony, which takes place Friday, May 18, 2018, at 11am in Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center. Mr. Marsalis received an honorary doctor of music degree from Juilliard in 2006. This will be the final commencement for Juilliard President Joseph W. Polisi, who has had a long association with Mr. Marsalis and asked that he be the commencement speaker. In July, Damian Woetzel will begin as the school's seventh president.
