Two Detroit Area Raised Dancers Lead Return of Dallas Black Dance Theatre

Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts is proud to present Dallas Black Dance Theatre, Saturday November 12th at 8PM. Founded in 1976 by Ann Williams to inspire minority boys and girls to appreciate dance as an art form and to realize the possibility of dance as a means to express their creativity,Dallas Black Dance Theatre offers dance opportunities for the entire population, regardless of race, age or circumstance, through professional dance concert performances, arts-in-education programs, community outreach activities, and dance training classes.

Elisa Monte Dance Sets 35th Anniversary Season

Elisa Monte Dance, an emotionally charged and highly acclaimed dance company that champions individuality, announces its 35th anniversary season and gala, March 2-5, at City College Center for the Arts' Aaron Davis Hall. The season pays tribute to the company's eponymous director who will present the world premiere of Pangaea. The season will also foreshadow the future artistic vision of the company with two world premieres by Tiffany Rea-Fisher, who will take over as artistic director at the close of the 2015-16 celebratory season. Rea-Fisher will premiere Newton's Cradle and Current and also return to the stage for a special solo performance of Monte's signature work Run to the Rock. Rea-Fisher, who retired from performing with the company in 2010, is among another 20 alumni who return for a tribute alumni finale of Shattered, a high-speed work first performed at the Joyce Theater in 2000.

REVERBdance Festival to Run 11/6-8

REVERBdance Festival celebrates its 10th year of presenting a stimulating variety of works by both seasoned and emerging contemporary dance artists, including dance theater choreography, solo performers, and dance companies.  The dancers and choreographers hail from around the U.S., South Africa, London, and Japan.  Four performances, November 6-8 at Baruch P.A. Center.

ITE Sets 6th Anniversary Season

Inception to Exhibition (ITE), NYC's only interdisciplinary arts organization fostering artist incubation, celebrates its sixth year with an evident mission to support outstanding artists through customized residencies and performance opportunities to further their creative ambitions. Curated and presented by ITE, the 2015-2016 Season will provide audiences with an up-close view of professional New York artists at the peak of their creative powers. The intimate and unique offerings showcase the journey a work takes from studio to stage. The season also features two festivals: the Annual ITE Dance Festival and the curating partners of Bryant Park's Modern Dance Series.

Over the 5-day festival, from today, March 11, through the 15th, ITE will bring together some of NYC's most talented emerging and established choreographers for an immersive focus on contemporary concert dance.

Inception to Exhibition (ITE), NYC's only interdisciplinary arts organization fostering artist incubation, announces it's second annual dance festival. Over the 5-day festival, March 11-15, ITE will bring together some of NYC's most talented emerging and established choreographers for an immersive focus on contemporary concert dance. The festival will feature a world premiere as well as four works-in-progress and re-staged pieces. ITE will present solos, duets, and trios from Stephanie Batten Bland, Sidra Bell, MADboots (Jonathan Campbell, Austin Diaz), Joe Celej, LoudHoundMovement (Brendan Duggan, Mallory Lynn), Davalois Fearon, Lane Gifford, Daniel Gwirtzman, Francesca Harper, Thomas House, Christina Noel & the Creature, Danielle Russo, David Norsworthy, Jenny Rocha, Sydney Schiff, Steps Ensemble (Bradley Shelver), Nelly Van Bommel, and Andre Zachery.

Elisa Monte Dance's 34th Gala Celebration Held Tomorrow

Elisa Monte Dance, an emotionally charged and highly acclaimed dance company that champions individuality, announces its 34th anniversary gala on January 22, 2015, at The Ailey Citigroup Theater. With the recent appointment of Tiffany Rea-Fisher as the next artistic director of Elisa Monte Dance in 2016, the gala, will resurrect the work and legacy of company founder, Elisa Monte, while spotlighting Rea-Fisher as a groundbreaking dance maker with a unique voice of leadership. The evening will revisit excerpts from Monte's two most recent works Terra Firma and Lonely Planet, along with Feu Follet, and the world premiere of Fisher's why so curious?.

Elisa Monte to Retire Following 35th Anniversary Season

Elisa Monte Dance (EMD) announced last night at a reception in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood that Elisa Monte will retire as the artistic director from the company that she has built, grown and established as a beacon of modern movement over its 34-years. Dancers, board members and important key players in the company's history, stood beside Elisa as she named Tiffany Rea-Fisher, long time dancer, Associate Artistic Director and Director of Operations as her successor, effective at the culmination of EMD's 35th season in spring of 2016. The announcement followed a private tour of the Fashion Institute of Technology's Dance & Fashion exhibition, where repertory costumes created by Calvin Klein's Francisco Costa for Monte's 2008 work Slope of Enlightenment are currently being showcased.

Elisa Monte Dance Comes to Aaron Davis Hall Tonight

Aimed at guiding patrons through themes of discovery, understanding and cultural celebration, City College Center for the Arts (CCCA), home to Aaron Davis Hall, is renewing the artistic expression of the campus's student body in their inaugural 2014-2015 season. NYC's newest center celebrating the diverse artistic voice of its community, CCCA will begin their season with a presentation of, Elisa Monte Dance, tonight, October 23, at Aaron Davis Hall, 7:00 p.m. Monte, an emotionally charged and highly acclaimed dance company that champions individuality, will present Run to the Rock, Treading, Audentity and excerpts from Feu Follet for one night only.

Artistic Director, Elisa Monte, will add to her collection of more than 50 works with the world premiere of Lonely Planet, the fourth and final movement in a succession of works that began in 2011. Additionally, Associate Artistic Director Tiffany Rea-Fisher will present Persona Umbra in its New York premiere and long time EMD principal dancer and choreographer Joe Celej will premiere their roots rest in infinity. The company will also restage Elisa Monte's 1987 Audentity.

Tiffany Rea Fisher is the Associate Artistic Director of the Elisa Monte Dance. She received her BFA from the Conservatory of Dance at Purchase College SUNY, where she co-founded ForArts, the school's first interdisciplinary presenting organization, which provided opportunities for students from different conservatories to create collaborative works.
