Penobscot Theatre Company Presents OUR TOWN, Now thru 5/11

The crown jewel of Penobscot Theatre Company's 40th-anniversary season: OUR TOWN by Thornton Wilder, opens tonight. 'Widely regarded as the greatest American play, this piece perfectly illustrates the power, relevance, and importance of theatre in our community,' says Artistic Director Bari Newport. Newport is directing the upcoming production, which will run today, April 24-May 11, and freshness is at the core of her vision.

BWW Reviews: Lost Nation's OUR TOWN Hits the Mark

Lost Nation Theater continues its presentation of Thornton Wilder's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, OUR TOWN, through April 27 at Montpelier's City Hall Arts Center. First produced in New York City in 1938, the play enjoyed four subsequent Broadway revivals, making it one of the best-known pieces of classic American theater. Lost Nation's production features a 19-member company under the direction of Kim Allen Bent.

Nancy Dussault, Conchata Ferrell and JoBeth Williams Among Rotating Cast for Rubicon Theatre's LOVE, LOSS, AND WHAT I WORE, Now thru 5/18

Rubicon Theatre continues the company's 16th Not Your Typical Season with a special run of Love, Loss, and What I Wore -- a witty and wise celebration of womanhood adapted by Nora and Delia Ephron, creators of such hits as 'When Harry Met Sally,' 'Sleepless in Seattle,' 'You've Got Mail,' 'The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants' and 'Silkwood.'

Pontine Theatre to Present 'ISLES OF SHOALS,' 5/1-11

May 1 through 11, Pontine Theatre presents Isles of Shoals: Eternal Sound of the Sea. Performances are Thursdays & Fridays at 7:30pm, Saturdays at 4pm and Sundays at 2pm. Tickets are $24 and may be purchased online at www.pontine.org.

ALWAYS...PATSY CLINE Returns to STAGES St. Louis 4/22

STAGES St. Louis will welcome back to the stage, after unprecedented demand, Always... Patsy Cline, beginning April 22, 2014 to The Playhouse at Westport Plaza. Always... Patsy Cline was originally produced by STAGES during its record-breaking 27th Season, which resulted in two added performances and historic attendance. Nightly, the audiences stopped the show with thunderous applause for numbers like 'Crazy,' 'Lovesick Blues,' and 'Your Cheating Heart.'

American Repertory Ballet to Present OUR TOWN as Part of Hub City Our Town Celebration, 5/2

On Friday, May 2 at 7:00pm at Crossroads Theatre, American Repertory Ballet will present Philip Jerry's Our Town as part of the Hub City Our Town celebration of arts and community in New Brunswick. The Hub City Our Town festival is a collaboration between the New Brunswick Cultural Center, George Street Playhouse, and six other New Brunswick arts organizations, including ARB.

Christopher Durang to Star as Vanya in His Own Play VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE

Playwright Christopher Durang - who won his first Tony Award in 2013 for his comedy VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE on Broadway - will make his debut in the role of Vanya when the play is presented at Bucks County Playhouse (70 S. Main St) in New Hope, PA. From July 17 to August 10, it has been announced by the Playhouse's newly-appointed producing team -- Producing Director Alexander Fraser, Executive Producer Robyn Goodman and Producers Stephen Kocis and Josh Fiedler.

Five plays will be presented over the course of one week, followed by additional free play readings on the weekend. The weekend schedule will be announced later this month. A post-show discussion with the playwright and a guest moderator will follow select readings for weekday performances. The plays will be presented at Labyrinth's home in New York City's West Village, the Bank Street Theater (155 Bank Street).

A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, GOOD PEOPLE, IT ONLY TAKES A MOMENT and More Set for Asolo Rep's 2014-15 Season

On Tuesday, March 18, 2014, Asolo Repertory Theatre announced its 2014-2015 season and the third season of its ambitious five-year American Character Project, an in-depth exploration of the soul of this country's people, past and present. Producing Artistic Director Michael Donald Edwards and FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training Director/Asolo Rep Associate Artistic Director Rep Greg Leaming presented both season line-ups to more than 350 patrons in Asolo Rep's Mertz Theatre.
