George Street Playhouse's Annual Gala Benefit, held Sunday, May 6, at the Heldrich in downton New Brunswick, saw GSP Board President Dr. Penelope Lattimer honored with the Thomas H. Kean Arts Advocacy Award. The black-tie event also celebrated the work of renowned playwright and friend of the Playhouse, the late Arthur Laurents, who would have turned 100 this year, with performances of songs from West Side Story, Gypsy, La Cage aux Folles, and his other Broadway hits.

George Street Playhouse has announced that its Annual Gala Benefit - a one-of-a-kind evening featuring stars of Broadway, film and television - will take place Sunday, May 6, 2018, 5 p.m., at The Heldrich Hotel in New Brunswick. This year, George Street Playhouse celebrates the Arthur Laurents Centennial - a tribute to the playwright on what would have been his 100th birthday - and honors Dr. Penelope Lattimer, the Playhouse's current Board President, with the Thomas H. Kean Arts Advocacy Award.

Paper Mill Playhouse (Mark S. Hoebee-Producing Artistic Director, Todd Schmidt-Managing Director), recipient of the 2016 Regional Theatre Tony Award, is proud to announce new members to the theater's Board of Trustees. W. Theodore Bourke, Marshall Everett, Brian A. Gragnolati, Jim Hughes, Charles Pascarella join the board, Governor Thomas H. Kean will serve as an honorary trustee and Dr. Elliot I. Stupak will be welcomed back to Paper Mill Playhouse as trustee emeritus.

George Street Playhouse announced today that its recent Annual Gala Benefit was the most successful in the event's history, raising a record amount of funds in support of its mainstage and educational programming. The Gala took place at The Heldrich Hotel in New Brunswick on Sunday, April 2, 2017, and featured many stars of the stage and screen as presenters and performers. George Street Playhouse has announced that its Annual Gala Benefit - a one-of-a-kind evening featuring stars of Broadway, film and television - will take place Sunday, April 2, 2017, 5 pm, at The Heldrich Hotel in New Brunswick. This year, George Street Playhouse honors one of its own as David Saint will receive the Arthur Laurents Award for Distinguished Artistic Achievement in celebration of his 20th season as the Playhouse's Artistic Director.

Two outstanding community leaders in the City of Newark were honored in Living the Dream, a reception on at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in observance of the annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration. This year's distinguished recipients honored were community advocate Gloria Hopkins Buck, LCSW (Steward of the Dream Award) and civil rights attorney Ryan P. Haygood (Visionary of the Future Award). The awards are given to individuals whose lifework reflects the ideals and principles of Dr. King's great legacy.

The New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) will observe Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with NJPAC's annual Celebration, "Keeping the Dream" on Today, January 14th at 5pm.  This private presentation will honor two distinguished members of the Newark Metropolitan community who take action and live the words of the great Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. making a difference in the community where they work and live. This year's honorees are Gloria Hopkins Buck, LCSW who will receive the "Steward of the Dream" award and Ryan P. Haygood, Esqwho will be the recipient of the "Visionary of the Future" award. The celebration will include a special performance by NJPAC's Jazz for Teens and the Grammy Award winning Jubilation Choir who under the leadership and tutelage of Rev. Dr. Stefanie Minatee has released six albums.

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey has announced the election of Edward J. Yaw, Ed.D of Convent Station, New Jersey and Edward C. Leithead, III of Chatham, New Jersey to its Board of Trustees. Dr. Yaw and Mr. Leithead join a group of twenty two distinguished community volunteers in their new governance roles as Trustees.

The Acting Company honored legendary theatrical director Mark Lamos and distinguished patron of the arts J. Barclay Collins at its annual gala Monday, October 17, at New York's Metropolitan Club, One East 60th St. The event featured cocktails, silent auction, dinner, entertainment and award ceremony. Paper Mill Playhouse is hosting its largest fundraising event of the year, the Paper Mill Playhouse Gala on Friday, May 6, at the renowned Hilton Short Hills. The reception and silent auction begin at 6:00pm followed by dinner and dancing featuring The Eddie Bruce Band.

? New Brunswick's George Street Playhouse celebrates the end of another successful season on Sunday, May 22, with its Annual Gala Benefit.  As part of the celebration, the Thomas H. Kean Arts Advocacy Award will be conferred upon The Actors Fund and its President and Chief Executive Officer, Joseph P. Benincasa, by the former Governor himself.  The inaugural award was given to Governor Kean in 1990 and was named in his honor to pay tribute to an individual, corporation or foundation whose dedication to the arts enhances the cultural life of the citizens of New Jersey.

At its June Board meeting, the final gathering of the 2014/2015 season, McCarter Theatre Center bid a fond farewell to eight outgoing board members.

The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra hosts its 2015 Spring into Music Gala tonight, April 18, at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark.
