BWW Reviews: ROSENCRANTZ AND GUILDENSTERN Comes to Life at Folger

Far before the first lines are spoken director Aaron Posner, known for his unique reinventions of classics, and his creative team have created a new home for Stoppard's absurd spin on Shakespeare, and while doing so have breathed life into a classic nearing its 50th anniversary.

Folger Theatre concludes its highly successful 2014/15 season with Tom Stoppard's fabulously inventive, existentialist tragicomedy Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. Directed by four-time Helen Hayes Award-winner Aaron Posner (Stoppard's Arcadia, The Taming of the Shrew at Folger), this modern classic will play at Folger Theatre now through June 21, 2015. World Premieres, Philadelphia Premieres & More Set for Flashpoint Theatre Company's Summer Season

Flashpoint Theatre Company is ready to announce its 11th season. After moving to the summer last year, the company is back with a strong season of timely plays that showcase two diverse looks at life in America today. The season kicks of the World Premiere of Hands Up: 6 Playwrights, 6 Testaments, a new piece commissioned by The New Black Fest. The season then concludes with the Philadelphia premiere of Lulu's Golden Shoes, a rarely produced work by Quiara Alegria Hudes. Every show this season will be performed at Caplan Studio Theater, at University of the Arts, Terra Hall, 16th Floor 211 South Broad Street. Theatre Exile to Present WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF? at Plays and Players Theater

Marital strife has never been so wickedly fun -- or dysfunctional. Following two sold-out and critically acclaimed productions, Theatre Exile ends their 18th season with Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? at Plays and Players Theater (1714 Delancey Place). Pearce Bunting (Boardwalk Empire), Catharine Slusar, Emilie Krause and Jake Blouch take the stage in this cultural landmark that has been riveting audiences for over 50 years and ruthlessly tears down the facade of the American family. Previews begin on Thursday, April 16, 2015 and opening night is Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at 8:00pm. The show runs for a total of 32 performances through Sunday, May 17, 2015.
