Marin Theatre and Virginia Stage's THE WHIPPING MAN to Play in Norfolk thru 3/17; Opens at MTC, 4/2

Marin Theatre Company, in a co-production with Virginia Stage Company, will stage the regional premiere of Matthew Lopez's Civil War drama The Whipping Man in Mill Valley from March 28 to April 21, 2013. MTC's artistic director Jasson Minadakis directs the production. Featuring popular Bay Area actors L. Peter Callender, Nicholas Pelczar and Tobie Windham, as well as the design team from MTC's 2011 San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Award nominated production of Tennessee Williams's The Glass Menagerie, this co-production will rehearse and run at VSC in Norfolk, Virginia, from February 26 to March 17, 2013, before moving to MTC. Opening night at MTC is on Tuesday, April 2.

Kellie Overbey, Quentin Mare and More Set for SLEEPING ROUGH Off-Broadway

Casting has been announced for the world-premiere of Kara Manning's play SLEEPING ROUGH, directed by Tony Award nominee Sam Buntrock and presented Off-Broadway at the Wild Project (195 East 3rd Street) by Page 73 Productions, currently celebrating its 15th season presenting works by up-and-coming playwrights in New York. Performances of SLEEPING ROUGH will begin April 3 prior to an official press opening of April 11. Tickets for SLEEPING ROUGH are now on sale.

Actors Theatre of Louisville Opens 37th Humana Festival with Sam Mark's THE DELLING SHORE Tonight

The 37th Humana Festival of New American Plays, made possible by a generous grant from the Humana Foundation, opens with the world premiere of Sam Mark's The Delling Shore, directed by Actors Theatre's associate artistic director Meredith McDonough. The Delling Shore is playing in the Bingham Theatre and begins previews tonight, February 27, opens March 1 and runs through April 7.

Aurora Theatre Company Presents THE ARSONISTS, 4/5-5/12

What is the great evil we are failing to face up to today? Award-winning Bay Area auteur Mark Jackson (Salomania, Metamorphosis, Salome, Miss Julie) returns to Aurora Theatre Company to direct British playwright Alistair Beaton's elegant new translation of THE ARSONISTS, Max Frisch's classic comic parable about appeasement (sometimes known as Beidermann and the Firebugs or Fire Raisers). Featuring Dan Hiatt, Tim Kniffin, and Michael Ray Wisely, along with Kevin Clarke, Tristan Cunningham, Gwen Loeb, Dina Percia, and Michael Uy Kelly, THE ARSONISTS plays April 5 through May 12 at the Aurora Theatre in Berkeley. PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT Arrives at Philly Academy of Music Tonight

The first national tour of Priscilla Queen of the Desert The Musical is coming to Philadelphia at the Academy of Music from tonight, February 26 through March 3. Part of the Broadway Season presented by the Kimmel Center and the Shubert Organization, the press opening is scheduled for Tues. Feb. 26 at 7:30 pm.

THEATREWORKS Revives EVERYMAN on a Bus, Now thru 3/17

We all know death can strike any place any time, often coming as a most unwelcome surprise. In the greatest play of the Middle Ages, Death comes to Everyman when he's least expecting it, and tells him to get ready for the trip of his life. 600 years later Death is still coming to every man, and in the THEATREWORKS revival of the play, Everyman will get his bad news on a city bus leaving from downtown Colorado Springs. He won't be travelling alone: 35 audience members will be joining him for the ride of his lifetime. Everyman on a Bus plays Wednesdays through Sundays, February 21-March 17, with two performances each night.

Transport Group Theatre's SEE ROCK CITY & OTHER DESTINATIONS Cast Recording to Celebrate Release at 54 Below, 3/13

The long anticipated cast recording of the Drama Desk award-winning SEE ROCK CITY & OTHER DESTINATIONS has been recorded by Yellow Sound Label, produced by Michael Croiter, to be released in digital and CD formats on March 19, 2013. The album features the cast of the Summer 2010 off-Broadway premiere produced by Transport Group Theatre Company (Artistic Director, Jack Cummings III; Executive Director, Lori Fineman) at The Duke on 42nd Street. The album will be available everywhere, including iTunes and Amazon.com.

Vintage Jessica Chastain on Stage in ROMEO & JULIET!

Jessica Chastain recently wrapped up a limited run on Broadway in THE HEIRESS, but that was far from her first time on stage. According to Celebuzz, Chastain led San Francisco Bay's Theatreworks production of Romeo and Juliet back in 1998. Click here to check out more photos from the production!

Jessica Grove to Star in Choral Chameleon and NY Theatre Barn's TAMAR OF THE RIVER Oratorio World Premiere, 3/9-10

The award-winning New York Theatre Barn is partnering with Brooklyn-based choral ensemble Choral Chameleon to produce the world premiere production of Tamar of the River Oratorio for two nights only in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn on March 9-10, 2013 starring Broadway's Jessica Grove in the title role, and the 12 singers of Choral Chameleon embodying the River.

YEARS OF SKY Arrives at 59E59 Theaters, Now thru 3/10

59E59 Theaters welcomes Scripts Up! with the NYC premiere of YEARS OF SKY, written by Barbara Blatner and directed by Christopher Scott. YEARS OF SKY begins performances tonight, February 21 for a limited engagement through Sunday, March 10.

Alfred Molina and Jonathan Groff Will Record RED for LA TheatreWorks

Winner of the Drama Desk Award, Drama League Award and six Tony Awards, Red is described as an intimate glimpse into the world of outspoken and opinionated artist Mark Rothko. Alfred Molina, reprising the role he created in London and was Tony-nominated for on Broadway, is joined by his co-star from the CTG production, Jonathan Groff in the drama the Associated Press calls 'an engrossing, enthralling new play about art, an artist and the act of creation.' All performances will be recorded live in front of an audience (without sets or costumes) to air on L.A. Theatre Works' syndicated radio theater series, which broadcasts weekly on public radio stations nationwide and can be streamed on demand at www.latw.org.

Ghostlight to Release DOGFIGHT Cast Recording This Spring

Ghostlight Records will release the Original Cast Recording of the musical, DOGFIGHT later this spring. The show - which debuted Off-Broadway at Second Stage Theatre last year - features music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (A Christmas Story), a book by Peter Duchan (IFC Films' Breaking Upwards) and directed by two-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello (Wicked, Glengarry Glen Ross).

Michael Urie to Lead Rattlestick's BUYER & CELLAR, Beginning 3/20

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater's Artistic Director David Van Asselt and Managing Director Brian Long have announced that the world premiere of Buyer & Cellar, written by Jonathan Tolins, directed by Stephen Brackett, and performed by Michael Urie, will begin performances Wednesday, March 20 at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, 224 Waverly Place, west of Seventh Avenue South. Opening night is set for Wednesday, April 3 at 7pm. Buyer & Cellar is scheduled to run through Saturday, May 4.
