BWW Reviews: LITTLE WOMEN Has Big Charm

Louisa May Alcott's "Little Women" has made its way into American hearts as a classic holiday children's novel, film and musical. Although Christmas plays only a small role in the story's events, a common warmth and familial atmosphere finds its way onto every page, into every line, and, in Theatrework's production of the recent Broadway musical adaptation, included in every song.

BWW Reviews: IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE at Theatreworks

How odd that Theatreworks should follow up Death of a Salesman, arguably the most brutal portrait of disappointed ambition, with It's a Wonderful Life, another tale of a man who suffers a series of unrealized ambitions and missed opportunities but who is held up not as a tragedy but an exemplar of a well-lived existence. If Willy Loman is the embodiment of the dark side of the American Dream, then George Bailey is the assurance that dream can be lived in simple and unexpected ways.

TheatreWorks Opens LITTLE WOMEN Tonight

TheatreWorks, the nationally acclaimed theatre of Silicon Valley, celebrates the holidays with four precocious New England sisters in LITTLE WOMEN. Due to high demand, TheatreWorks has pre-extended this holiday delight through January 4, 2014, adding an extra week of performances.
