Presented by the WP Theater with Erica Rotstein and Christina Wallace, the reading of Gunderson's new play NATURAL SHOCKS is in support of the Ms. Foundation's programs and grants that address domestic violence and gun violence against women. The San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle (SFBATCC) held its 42nd Annual Excellence in Theatre Awards Gala on Monday, March 26th at San Francisco's historic Victoria Theatre. Over 300 members of the community gathered as 67 production awards for theatre produced in 2017 and four Special Awards were presented. The evening was hosted by Walter Mayes with musical entertainment provided by The Lost Trio.
As the TheatreWorks Silicon Valley cast prepares for its upcoming production of 'The Bridges of Madison County,' set to begin performances April 4 at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, members of the team had the opportunity to meet a real Italian war bride, whose story almost mirrors that of the musical's leading character. San Jose resident Francesca Stewart, now 100 years old, is one of the more than a million brides of GIs who originally came to United States due to the War Brides Act passed by Congress in 1945. She stopped by TheatreWorks' Hambly Rehearsal Hall on March 24 to share her story.
