Classics are classics because they have a resonance that lasts long after their final word has been written. The Old Globe's production of UNCLE VANYA, by Anton Chekhov, with a new translation by Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky with playwright and production director Richard Nelson, is nothing short of an excellent example of letting a classic have its vibrant say once again.

Michael Kahn today announces Shakespeare Theatre Company's 2018-2019 Season. Moonlight Stage Productions took home the most number of awards at Monday night's San Diego Theatre Critics Circle Craig Noel Awards. Moonlight received five awards total, including the coveted award for Best Resident Musical for its 2017 production of "In the Heights." The production of Lin-Manuel Miranda's musical also brought awards to James Vasquez for Outstanding Direction, Carlos Mendoza for Outstanding Choreography, and Elan McMahan for Outstanding Musical Direction. Rounding out Moonlight's awards, Randall Hickman received Outstanding Featured Performance in a Musical, Male for his portray of Ursula, the Sea Witch in "The Little Mermaid."

Paper Mill Playhouse (Mark S. Hoebee-Producing Artistic Director, Todd Schmidt-Managing Director), recipient of the 2016 Regional Theatre Tony Award, has announced today Harry Connick, Jr. will star as Henry Gondorff in the world-premiere production of The Sting. The musical is based on the 1973 film, and will have its world premiere at Paper Mill Playhouse for a limited run from March 29 through April 29, 2018, with book by Bob Martin, music and lyrics by Mark Hollmann &Greg Kotis with Harry Connick, Jr. In addition, the score will contain music by Scott Joplin including 'The Entertainer.'
This spring Cutting Ball Theater welcomes the return of Founding Artistic Director Rob Melrose to direct Shakespeare's neglected classic, TIMON OF ATHENS, the final play of the Theater's 2017-18 Season. In the title role of Timon, Brennan Pickman-Thoon leads a cast that includes Ed Berkeley, Maria Ascension Leigh, Adam Niemann, Doug Nolan, Radhika Rao, David Sinaiko, John Steele Jr. and Courtney Walsh. It will be directed by Gordon Greenberg with choreography by Lorin Latarro and music supervision, arrangements, and orchestrations by Brian Usifer.
