Photo Flash: Bethany Slomka & John Massey In HAIRSPRAY At San Diego Musical Theatre

San Diego Musical Theatre invites you to take a special sneak peek at the cast of it's upcoming production of Hairspray. Hairspray, winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Original Book, is a family-friendly musical, piled bouffant-high with laughter, romance and deliriously tuneful songs. Music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman, and book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan. Hairspray will be directed by J. Scott Lapp (SDMT's First Date, The Prince of Egypt, Bonnie & Clyde), with choreography by Jill Gorrie (SDMT's Singin' in the Rain, 42nd Street, Damn Yankees), and music direction by Don LeMaster. Hairspray runs August 3 - September 2, 2018 at the historic Horton Grand Theatre, with press opening on Saturday, August 4 at 8:00 PM.

Casting Announced For The Lyceum Premiere Of A Hitchcock Masterpiece THE 39 STEPS

Casting is now complete for the Lyceum premiere of the intriguing and riotous comedy The 39 Steps. This fast-paced whodunit, playing from August 4 - August 12, will be directed by MICHAEL EVAN HANEY (Guess Who's Coming To Dinner, 2017 - Caine Mutiny Court-Martial, 2016 - Driving Miss Daisy, 2015). The production features DANIEL HARRAY as Richard Hannay, MALLORY HAWKS as Annabella Schmidt and several others, BEN ROSEBERRY as Clown 1, and QUIN GRESHAM as Clown 2.

Westport Country Playhouse stages the lavish, large-cast comedy, "A Flea in Her Ear," newly adapted by David Ives from the original by Georges Feydeau, and directed by Mark Lamos, Westport Country Playhouse artistic director.  Fresh from a sold-out run by Delaware's Resident Ensemble Players (REP), a professional theater located at the University of Delaware, the co-production with the REP runs in Westport July 10 - 28.

The Globe Guilders are pleased to announce their 28th annual fashion show and luncheon, Celebrating Couture 2018, presented by Neiman Marcus, to benefit The Old Globe's artistic and arts engagement programs. Once again, Neiman Marcus is producing The Art of Fashion, an exclusively curated show featuring the Fall collections of several celebrated designers, including an exclusive preview of 18 gowns from Zac Posen's Pre-Fall 2018 Collection. Celebrating Couture 2018 will take place on Thursday, August 16, 2018 in the Costa Del Mar Ballroom of the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa.

However, at the final dress rehearsal of Otello, Merelli is nowhere to be found. The manager, Henry Saunders, and his assistant Max are in a panic. It appears Merelli's wife has left him a 'Dear John' letter and the distraught singer, accidentally given a double dose of tranquilizers, is thought to be dead.  What follows is a laugh-out-loud chain reaction of mistaken identity, farcical plot twists, double entendres and musical mayhem!

The Old Globe today announced the cast and creative team as the 2018 Summer Shakespeare Festival continues with the finest of the Bard's work outdoors under the stars in the Lowell Davies Festival Theatre. Celebrate romance with Much Ado About Nothing, directed by three-time Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall (the Globe's Love's Labor's Lost), running August 12 - September 16, 2018.
