Furious Theatre's 'HUNTER GATHERERS' Extends at Pasadena Playhouse's Carrie Hamilton Theatre Thru 2/28

Furious Theatre Company has announced that the critically-acclaimed Los Angeles Premiere of HUNTER GATHERERS, written by Peter Sinn Nachtrieb (boom, Colorado) and directed by D?maso Rodriguez (Canned Peaches In Syrup, Furious Theatre; Orson's Shadow, Pasadena Playhouse) IS EXTENDING THROUGH SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 28 at the home of Furious Theatre Company, the Pasadena Playhouse Carrie Hamilton Theatre, 39 S. El Molino Ave. in Pasadena.

Fountain Theater Announces Its 2009 Season Of New Plays

The multiple award-winning Fountain Theatre is excited to announce its 2009 Season of new plays. Following on the heels of the critically acclaimed, twice-extended run of August Wilson's Gem of the Ocean, just nominated for 8 Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle awards and continuing through February 22, will be three new plays, including two West Coast premieres and a Los Angeles premiere: Photograph 51 by Anna Ziegler (March 21-May 3); Coming Home by Athol Fugard (Summer, 2009); and Shining City by Conor McPherson (Fall, 2009). In addition, The Fountain's popular Forever Flamenco! dance series, which continues on the first, third and occasional fifth Sunday of every month at the intimate Fountain venue, has been selected by the Los Angeles County Arts Commission to present an all-star Forever Flamenco! extravaganza at the Ford Amphitheatre on August 1; and The Fountain will re-mount last season's successful The Accomplices by Bernard Weinraub for an eight-week run at the Odyssey Theatre (April 25-June 14)

Pope Joan Runs At The Stella Adler Theatre 3/22

40th Annual Drama Critics Circle Award Nominations Announced

The Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle has announced its nominations and special awards for excellence in Los Angeles and Orange County theatre for the year 2008. The 40th Annual Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards ceremony will take place on Monday, March 16 at the El Portal Theatre, thanks to the generous donation of the El Portal's management. The theatre is located at 5269 Lankershim Blvd in North Hollywood. Tickets are $40; $5 off if purchased in advance via PayPal. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. for a catered reception (with no-host bar) and silent auction. Adriana Sevan Awarded 2008 Middle East America Distinguished Playwright Award

The three theater organizations from across the nation, Golden Thread Productions in San Francisco, the Lark Play Development Center in New York, and Silk Road Theatre Project in Chicago, who formed Middle East America (MEA): A National New Plays Initiative have awarded the 2008 Middle East America Distinguished Playwright Award to Adriana Sevan.

August Wilson's 'Gem of the Ocean' Opens at Fountain Theater

'Gem of the Ocean' opens on October 11, with performances Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 2 pm through November 16. Previews are scheduled October 3 through 10. Tickets are $25.00 on Thursdays and Fridays and $28.00 on Saturdays and Sundays, except opening night (October 11), which is $30.00 and previews which are $15.00. On Thursdays and Fridays only, students with ID are $18.00 and seniors $23.00. The Fountain Theatre is located at 5060 Fountain Avenue (at Normandie) in Los Angeles. Westport County Playhouse Presents Wright's 'Pavilion'
