I'm all for taking classic stories and turning them on their head as long as you have something interesting to say about them. A new twist on the mythology can be quite fun. And Copious Love's "Alice in Wonderland" musical retelling, "Alice's Anthem", certainly has that with their dark and macabre modern thrill ride through Wonderland. But as much as it has going for it, it has almost as much going against it (which is not difficult in its three hour run time) as many of the scenes, like Alice, tend to lose their way and go beyond what the story wants to tell and into what felt like insider jokes and self indulgences.

With masterful dancing and a delightful charm, Festival Ballet Theatre's Alice in Wonderland takes you on a heart-racing adventure. Lewis Carroll's classic tale comes magically to life with all your favorite characters – the lovable White Rabbit, the Cheshire Cat, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, and the infamous Queen of Hearts. Take a journey down the Rabbit Hole, into Wonderland Garden and through the Mad Hatter's Tea Party, all adorned with whimsical sets, wildly realistic masks and colorful costumes. Choreographed by Emmy Award-winning choreographer Robert Sund to Jean Sibelius' lyrical melodies, Alice in Wonderland is an enchanting adventure that will delight children and adults alike.

Disney's 'Alice In Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass' begins principal photography this week, featuring an award-winning production team and all-star ensemble cast, including Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Mia Wasikowska, Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen.

ZACH Theatre announces the cast of this summer's most highly anticipated musical - The Who's Tommy in an all-new production created for ZACH's Topfer Stage July 9 - August 24, 2014. This dynamic cast includes some of Austin's best rock vocalists joined by a Guest Artist from NYC, a professional hip hop DJ/break-dancer, gymnasts, and a live band under the musical direction of ALLEN ROBERTSON.

Local theater group, Other Voices, is in the midst of rehearsals for their annual springtime production of The New Adventures of Alice in Wonderland at The Weinberg Center for the Arts. The cast is a mix of Frederick acting icons, like Julie Herber and Joann Lee (hailing from The MET) reprising their respective Red and White Queen roles. Jeremy Trammelle (Mad Hatter), Shawn Nakia (White Rabbit), and Amanda Patten (The Duchess) are also joining the cast. Other Voices is excited to introduce Miss Charley Bennett in the featured role of Alice.

Box Tale Soup's version of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland has been created and adapted entirely by the company. It features a cast of just two human performers, a dozen colourful handmade puppets and a beautiful set that unfolds from a vintage trunk, alongside a magical soundtrack of original music composed especially for the show. From the surprising appearance of the Cheshire Cat to the madness of the Tea Party, this is a constantly inventive and refreshing take on Carroll's classic work.

New York Theatre Ballet's Production of Keith Michael's Alice-in-Wonderland Follies, A Ballet Vaudeville presented on January 26, 2014 at 3:30 p.m. is a fantastic production. This is a rave review because there is no more delightful or charming production to be found in New York City.
