LuPone, Grammer et al. Honor Gersten, Viola at The Acting Company's Masquerade Gala, 11/22

Bernard Gersten, Executive Producer of Lincoln Center Theater (LCT) will receive the John Houseman Award for his work at Lincoln Center and as Joseph Papp's Associate Producer of The New York Shakespeare Festival (NYSF) at The Acting Company's Masquerade Gala on Monday, November 22 at The Pierre Hotel, New York City. Tom Viola, Executive Director of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS (BC/EFA), will also be honored with the Joan Warburg Humanitarian Award for his leadership and advocacy in the fight against AIDS. Kelsey Grammer and Patti LuPone will entertain as Angela Lansbury, Marian Seldes, Elizabeth Wilson, Campbell Scott, Dana Ivey, Shubert's Philip Smith and Robert Wankel, Jujamcyn's Paul Libin, Equity's Nick Wyman, The Actors Fund's Joe Benecasa and The Broadway League's Charlotte St. Martin join the salute.

SMA Presents 'Theater - A View From The Wings' 11/8

For the first time in its 25-year existence, The Stage Managers' Association will host an all-day conference entitled, 'Theater - A View From the Wings: Conversations with Directors, General Managers and Stage Managers' on Monday, November 8th beginning at 10 AM at Connolly's Klub 45 at 121 West 45th Street in Manhattan.

Oskar Eustis Hosts The Public's Who Lost America? 11/15

The Public Theater (Oskar Eustis, Artistic Director; Andrew D. Hamingson, Executive Director) announced the line-up today for the second Public Forum event, "Who Lost America? How Our Politics and Culture Have Changed in the 10 Years Since Bush v. Gore", on Monday, November 15 at 8 p.m.

Arizona Theatre Company Presents ROMEO AND JULIET, 11/4-14

ATC proudly presents a limited engagement of ROMEO AND JULIET, the 'greatest love story ever told,' performed by two of America's premier classical theatre companies for a limited run, November 4-7 at the Herberger Theater Center in Phoenix and November 11-14 at the Temple of Music and Art in Tucson. The New York Times says, 'ROMEO AND JULIET is a play of enormous, reckless passions - clans feud, friends quarrel, and lovers swoon. Here, those passions are met head-on, and with real skill.' The Minneapolis Examiner claims, 'This ROMEO AND JULIET transcends its classic status by portraying its fated lovers as two swept up in a romance that leads from the heart and not from the head. Whatever your age, it's safe to say this production will make you feel equally smitten.' This is a strictly limited engagement of this acclaimed national tour of William Shakespeare's richly poetic tragedy of young love.

Woodie King Jr's New Federal Theatre Presents KNOCK ME A KISS, 11/21

Woodie King Jr's New Federal Theatre will present Knock Me a Kiss by Charles Smith at their home at Henry Street Settlement's Abrons Arts Center/Recital Hall (466 Grand Street). Performances begin November 11th with Opening Night set for Sunday, November 21st. Performances continue through December 5th only. Chuck Smith directs a cast that features Erin Cherry, André De Shields, Gillian Glasco, Morocco Omari, Sean Phillips, and Marie Thomas. Knock Me a Kiss will have set design by Anthony Davidson, costume design by Ali Turns, lighting design by Shirley Prendergast, and sound design by Bill Toles.

American Repertory Theatre Presents THE BLUE FLOWER 12/1-1/8

American Repertory Theater will present THE BLUE FLOWER by Jim and Ruth Bauer at the Loeb Drama Center December 1, 2010 - January 8, 2011. The production will be directed by Will Pomerantz, with movement by Tom Nelis, and music direction by Mark Rubenstein.

Compulsion, a world-premiere co-production from Berkeley Rep, The Public Theater, and Yale Repertory Theatre, begins previews on September 13, opens September 16, and closes October 31.

Guthrie Theater & Acting Co. Present ROMEO AND JULIET/COMEDY OF ERRORS, 10/22

Joe Dowling of the Guthrie Theater and Margot Harley of The Acting Company have announced an expanded touring season beginning and ending in New York. This will be the third joint tour for the two TONY-winning theaters and will feature co-productions of Shakespeare's ROMEO AND JULIET directed by Penny Metropulos in repertory with THE COMEDY OF ERRORS, directed by Ian Belknap. Ms. Metropulos has directed at Oregon Shakespeare Festival for 19 years; Mr. Belknap, Associate Artistic Director of The Acting Company, has apprenticed under several master directors including Mark Lamos and Doug Hughes.
