Two of the area's most highly acclaimed jazz musicians, pianist Steve Rudolph and saxophonist Tim Warfield, will headline a night of cabaret-style entertainment Friday, Oct. 17, at the Ware Center of Millersville University in Lancaster, to kick off the season's 'Jazz in the Sky' concert series at the Ware Center. The concert, which starts at 7:30 p.m., will take place in the Ware Center's newly renamed Owen Salon, and is being dedicated to the late Keith Mohler, who had been a fixture in Lancaster's jazz scene and past programmer of three years of the 'Jazz in the Sky' concert series.
Under the leadership of Artistic Director Derek Bermel and Music Director George Manahan, American Composers Orchestra's (ACO) 2014-2015 season strengthens the orchestra's commitment to serve as a catalyst for the creation of new orchestral music, providing unprecedented opportunities for American composers to create new work and for audiences to discover it. Now in its 11th year at Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall, Orchestra Underground continues as ACO's subversive and entrepreneurial redefinition of the orchestra as an elastic ensemble, and this year features the rarely performed orchestral music of pioneering composer and performer Meredith Monk, holder of the 2014-2015 Richard and Barbara Debs Composer's Chair at Carnegie Hall (Monk's Sphere, November 21). Orchestra Underground brings cabaret, pop, and jazz traditions into the concert hall in a program featuring Kurt Weill's cabaret cult classic The Seven Deadly Sins sung by Shara Worden (Sin & Songs, February 27). For the first time in several seasons, ACO returns to performing with full symphonic forces outside of Carnegie Hall - the orchestra's April concert at Jazz at Lincoln Center will showcase the New York premiere ofWynton Marsalis' Blues Symphony.

He is one of the most recognizable jazz saxophonists, as famous for his masterful straight-ahead post-bop improvisations as he is for his explorations of groove-based idioms. Redman won the prestigious Thelonious Monk Jazz Competition for saxophone in 1991, and has played alongside of many jazz icons including Jack DeJohnette, Charlie Haden, Joe Lovano, Pat Metheny, and Clark Terry.

The Village Voice calls him '...one of the most distinctive guitarists to come along in years.' He's been voted one of the Top Ten Guitarists by Down Beat Magazine's Reader's Poll. He's worked alongside such jazz luminaries as Dizzy Gillespie, Freddie Hubbard, Joe Lovano and Eliane Elias.
He's recorded nearly 25 albums as a leader and about that many more as a sideman with innumerable internationally recognized jazz artists. His name: Dave Stryker.
He's one of the most in-demand bassists on the contemporary music scene today. He lives in the Hudson Valley. His first gigs were with Woody Herman and Carmen McRea. Having moved from California to New York, he's worked with Michael Brecker, Elian Elias, Michael Franks, Vic Juris, Adam Nussbaum, Clark Terry, Bob Brookmeyer, Lee Konitz, Frank Zappa, Michel LeGrand Celine Dione (Gammy winning FALLING INTO YOU) and even poet, Allen Ginsberg. Beside all of those credentials, he is distinguished Professor of Jazz Bass Studies at Manhattan School of Music.

Although Mssrs. Stryker and Anderson have been colleagues for many years in large ensembles, their appearance strictly as a jazz duo will be their first.
