9 to 5: The Musical was nominated for four 2009 Tony® Awards including Original Score and received a record breaking 15 Drama Desk nominations including Outstanding Musical.

The New York Times suggests today that after a widly successful industry presentation in New York on Sunday, the American Repertory Theater's production of Porgy and Bess, starring Audra McDonald, Norm Lewis, David ALan Grier, and Joshua Henry, may be headed to Broadway as early as next season. The production of the Gershwin classic, will open A.R.T.'s 2011-2 season on August 14 at the Loeb Drama Center. Porgy and Bess is written by George Gershwin, DuBose and Dorothy Heyward, and Ira Gershwin, is adapted by Suzan-Lori Parks and Diedre Murray, and will be directed by A.R.T. Artistic Director Diane Paulus (Hair).

The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) announced that Norm Lewis, Audra McDonald, and David Alan Grier are joining the A.R.T. to play Porgy, Bess, and Sportin' Life in the A.R.T.'s new production of The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess. Performances will begin August 17at the Loeb Drama Center in Cambridge. Further casting will be announced at a later date.

A New York City Chapter of The National High School Musical Theater Awards has been formed to present The Gershwin Awards to celebrate outstanding achievement in musical theater performance by students attending public and private high schools throughout the New York City Metropolitan Area.
