Telly Leung is currently gearing up for GODSPELL. His other Broadway, national and regional credits include Flower Drum Song, Pacific Overtures, the Chicago sit-down company of Wicked, Sweeney Todd and Allegiance. A native of Brooklyn, Leung is also a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University and has continued to branch out to other avenues of the performing arts. BroadwayWorld.com has been following the progress of Broadway-bound musical, ALLEGIANCE, since its first reading in Los Angeles two years ago up to its final workshop presentation held at the Baryshnikov Arts Center yesterday. What we just saw certainly bore little likeness to its initial working draft while some aspects of the production have remained the same, like its central story on the Japanese American experience during and after the World War II internment; and its composer and lyricist Jay Kuo's uplifting and emotionally charged music and lyrics.

Actor George Takei, who has been a major force in advocacy of LGBT civil rights and gay rights issues, has taken a stand against the state of Tennessee's 'Don't say Gay Law' which prohibits discussion or even acknowledgement of the existence of homosexuality in the classrooms of schools in Tennessee. In response to the absurdity of this law, Mr. Takei has developed a brilliant and original alternative. 'If you need to say the word gay, simply just say ‘takei' instead', says the popular television and film actor. Takei released a PSA to this effect that has been a hit on YouTube soon to hit 1 million hits! The video was picked up by TV anchor Rachel Maddow and featured on her show in 'The Best Thing in the World Today' segment.
