Theatre for the New City Explodes with New Musical, THE FOLK SINGER and New Plays: LIFE MASKS

Created by the team behind the critically acclaimed 2015 production of Heather Smiley for President, the musical has a book and lyrics by Tom Attea, with music composed by Arthur Abrams. The production is directed by Mark Marcante. THE FOLK SINGER will play a limited engagement through October 23rd. Theater for the New City Presents Evening of Short Plays LIFE MASKS Tonight

'Life Masks,' an evening of new works by Lorinne Vozoff and Eduardo Machado, celebrates that even though you might now be of 'a certain age,' you still can fight for what you believe. Theater for the New City, 155 First Ave., presents the evening tonight, September 29, through October 15.

Dance Now's Fall 2016 DANCE-MOPOLITAN Series Presents Chelsea & Magda, Bryan Strimpel and Shaina Branfman

Commissioned and produced by DANCE NOW, National Intimacy Month is a collaboration between performance duo Chelsea and Magda, choreographer/dancers Bryan Strimpel and Shaina Branfman of B.S. Movement, and choreographer Raja Feather Kelly and his troupe, the feath3r theory. Combining choreography, improvisation, text, live podcasting, and sketch comedy, the work explores the role of intimacy in the creative process and in performance. The cute and the aggressive, the familiar and unknown, the popular and the underrated-all come into play in dynamic, surprising, and humorous ways, complete with commercial breaks and apple pie.

Tickets Now Available for JERSEY BOYS at New Orleans Saenger Theatre

Tickets will go on sale Today, Sept. 23, at 10 a.m. for the returning New Orleans engagement of the Tony®, Grammy® and Oliver Award-winning hit musical JERSEY BOYS, the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. Presented by the New Orleans Theatre Association, JERSEY BOYS will make its Saenger Theatre debut Dec. 13 - 18, 2016, as a show option of the East Jefferson General Hospital Broadway in New Orleans 2016 - 2017 season.

WICKED YOUNG WRITER AWARDS Scribble Towards their Seventh Year

THE WICKED YOUNG WRITER AWARDS, created and sponsored by the award-winning musical Wicked in association with the National Literacy Trust (www.literacytrust.org.uk), is pleased to announce that the acclaimed author and illustrator of the How to Train Your Dragon books, Cressida Cowell, will return as Head Judge for the awards for the third consecutive year. Jonathan Douglas, Director of the National Literacy Trust, will also be returning as part of the judging panel.

The Four Seasons Come to the Orpheum in JERSEY BOYS This October

The National Tour of the Tony, Grammy and Olivier Award-winning hit musical JERSEY BOYS, the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, welcomed Cory Jeacoma (Bob Gaudio) on September 15 in Syracuse, NY. He joins a company that includes Matthew Dailey (Tommy DeVito), Aaron De Jesus (Frankie Valli) and Keith Hines (Nick Massi) as The Four Seasons, with Barry Anderson and Thomas Fiscella. JERSEY BOYS will return to the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis, TN October 25-30.

Ten-minute play festivals are often populated by material that cannot be strictly classified as plays. But the academic distinction between sketch and fully formed play may reasonably give way to a simpler, more binary metric: it either works or it doesn't. Some of the finest writing in this sixth year of shorts produced by The Bard's Town feels as if they are either lifted from a longer piece or are the seeds of a larger story.

To honor his legacy, Museum of the Moving Image will present The Master: Philip Seymour Hoffman from September 16 through October 2, a retrospective featuring sixteen films, including his directorial debut Jack Goes Boating; Capote, for which he won an Academy Award for Leading Actor; and The Master, Magnolia, and Boogie Nights- three films he made with Paul Thomas Anderson.

YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN to Stomp Into Community Theatre of Little Rock

The Community Theatre of Little Rock will continue its 61st Season with its Halloween production of 'Young Frankenstein: The Musical' by Mel Brooks. Show dates are October 14th-16th, 21st-23rd and 28th-30th, to be held at The Studio Theatre, 320 West 7th Street in Downtown Little Rock.
