On May 2nd, Flanders & Streb are convening Risky Talking #2: What Is A Risky Truth? Acclaimed novelist A.M. Homes and actress/dramatist Anna Deavere Smith will join action architect Elizabeth Streb and author/journalist Laura Flanders for more. Hear what they think, say what you think and watch out for the unique action moment created by the Streb team. The action and the conversation resume on Friday May 2nd from 7 to 9 pm. Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, beloved as one of the world's most popular dance companies,will return to Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts with four different programs for a two-week 15-performance engagement at the David H. Koch Theater June 11 - 22, 2014. Today, Artistic Director Robert Battle announced repertory for the season, highlighted by a world premiere from Robert Moses - a first-time collaboration with the Company - new productions of Hans van Manen's Polish Pieces and David Parsons' signature work Caught, along with the company premiere of Asadata Dafora's groundbreaking 1932 solo Awassa Astrige/Ostrich. Ailey's acclaimed dancers will perform in diverse repertory including encore performances of 2013-14 season premieres and new productions such as Wayne McGregor's Chroma and an "Ailey/Ellington" program, as well as favorites like Alvin Ailey's American masterpiece Revelations.

New York Live Arts presents the U.S. premiere of Alain Buffard's Baron Samedi, May 1 - 3 at 7:30pm in the New York Live Arts Theater. Featuring a stellar international cast including Nadia Beugre, Will Rawls and David Thomson, among others, Baron Samedi pays tribute to the eponymous legendary and unsettling Carnival figure and voodoo master of ceremonies.

In a recent interview with the San Diego Union-Tribune, Tony winner Duncan Sheik revealed that the time is drawing near for the highly-anticipated film version of his 2006 musical- Spring Awakening. He told the UT: 'We're trying to get the 'Spring Awakening' movie made this year. It's in process, and we have a fancy director (McG) and a fancy producer (Playtone, Tom Hanks' company) involved. So fingers crossed we'll be diving into it.'

Anchoring the season are two festivals: the return of the Walking Distance Dance Festival-SF in May, and spanning four weeks from July into August, the Music Moves Festival, a celebration of music and dance. In fact, the Theater's entire season is studded with concerts that feature dance and live music. The relationship between the two serves as a recurring theme for artists and audiences alike.

The upcoming performance of Winning Works: Choreographers of Color Award by The Joffrey Academy of Dance has changed venues due to last week's electrical fire at the Harris Theater, an event unrelated to the Winning Works production. The production will now take place at the Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place, 175 E. Chestnut Street, and the date and time of the performance remain unchanged, which is tonight, March 1 at 7:00 pm. Winning Works ticket holders will be notified by the Joffrey Ballet box office staff about the change of venue.
