The National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) congratulates the 50th class of U.S. Presidential Scholars, announced today by U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan. The 20 Scholars in the Arts, all 2014 YoungArts Winners, were nominated to The White House Commission on Presidential Scholars by YoungArts, and selected based on academic, civic and artistic achievement. The award, presented on behalf of the President of the United States, is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon an artistically talented graduating high school senior. Each year, up to 141 high school seniors are recognized as U.S. Presidential Scholars for their accomplishments.

New York Live Arts announces the 2014 Theater Access Program - a comprehensive rental program that provides performance space and resources to a diverse group of self-producing artists of all disciplines. Almost 25 years after Kelly's untimely death of AIDS in 1990, we continue to experience his profound impact on fashion. Yet, 'Patrick Kelly: Runway of Love' is the first of its kind to comprehensively display the breadth and diversity of this designer's influential work.

Alfie Boe, who is internationally recognized for his tenor voice, first gained recognition in the US when he starred in Baz Luhrmann's LA BOHÈME. In 2010, he took on the role of Jean Valjean for the 25th Anniversary Concert of LES MISERABLES. This production, which shares the name of the exceptionally powerful 1964 volume by James Baldwin and renowned photographer Richard Avedon, brings the collaboration to life in a wrenchingly original stage adaptation.

Each year STREB honors the courage, strength, openness, and interdependence that both STREB and SLAM embody as we honor a fellow Action Maverick. This year's honorees are one of the most celebrated dancers/choreographers of the last century, Bill T. Jones and his enormously talented sculptor/designer partner, Bjorn Amelan. The evening is again hosted by wickedly funny satirist, Kate Clinton, with her customary sass and wit. Cynthia Mayeda serves as Honorary Chair. It begins at 7pm with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres and a Silent Auction. Dinner and the Awards ceremony begins at 8pm, including a Live Auction and special performances by Indie String Quartet ETHEL and the STREB Extreme Action Company

New York Live Arts presents the Trisha Brown Dance Company (TBDC) in a week-long residency with performances of Son of Gone Fishin'; Opal Loop/Cloud Installation #72503; Solo Olos; and Rogues, today, April 8 - 12 at 7:30pm and April 13 at 3:00pm in New York Live Arts' Theater. In addition to the six performances, the residency will include open rehearsals, a master class, discussions and an archival exhibition in both the Live Arts building and online.

Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events Commissioner Michelle Boone, Carolina Garcia Jayaram, Chief Executive Officer of United States Artists (USA) and USA's Board of Directors are announcing today that USA, one of the nation's largest grant-making and advocacy organizations, supporting artists across eight major disciplines, will move its headquarters from Los Angeles to Chicago. USA is in the process of hiring local staff and finding a location for the new office within the city.
