Camille A. Brown Wins the 2016 Jacob's Pillow Dance Award

The 2016 Jacob's Pillow Dance Award, a prestigious honor that carries a $25,000 cash prize, will be presented to contemporary choreographer, dancer, and artistic director Camille A. Brown in acknowledgement of her vision and outstanding contributions to the dance field. Regularly garnering acclaim for her 'vividness and versatility' (Alastair Macaulay, The New York Times), Brown holds a New York Dance and Performance ('Bessie') Award, two Princess Grace Awards, a Doris Duke Performing Artist Award, and her work has toured nationally and internationally. The Jacob's Pillow Dance Award was established in 2007 and, in honor of its 10th anniversary, the Pillow has broadened the scope of this honor with a commitment to the artist's growth and future work. In addition to the unrestricted cash prize, this Award also includes a committed engagement for the 2017 Festival and a Creative Development Residency at Jacob's Pillow. Previous recipients of the Jacob's Pillow Dance Award include the legendary choreographer Merce Cunningham; MacArthur Fellows Michelle Dorrance and Kyle Abraham; and John Heginbotham of Dance Heginbotham, among others.

Kim Cullen Named New Executive Director of New York Live Arts

New York Live Arts, New York's dynamic center for dance and the performing arts under the artistic leadership of world-renowned choreographer Bill T. Jones, appoints Kim Cullen as its new Executive Director. Cullen began working for New York Live Arts in 2014 as the Producer of the 2015 Live Ideas festival curated by Laurie Anderson and joined the organization in the summer of 2015 as Interim Executive Director. Prior to her engagement at New York Live Arts, Cullen worked as free-lance producer in New York and Europe and served as Producing Director for Elizabeth Streb. During her tenure at Streb, the Streb Lab for Action Mechanics secured financing from the City of New York to purchase its Williamsburg Brooklyn building.

YBCA to Present Bill T. Jones' West Coast Premiere of ANALOGY/DORA

 MacArthur Genius and legendary choreographer Bill T. Jones, and the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company return to Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (YBCA) to present the West Coast premiere of Analogy/Dora: Tramontane, a portrait of perseverance, resourcefulness, and resilience. This new performance is based on an oral history Jones conducted with his 95-year-old mother-in-law Dora Amelan, a French-Jewish nurse and social worker and survivor of World War II. Analogy/Dora began 12 years ago as a gift Jones created for his longtime collaborator and husband, Bjorn Amelan, and his family.
