Symphony Space, in collaboration with Hermitage Artist Retreat, presents the world premiere of The Day Before, a one-time-only multimedia event, on Friday, November 8 at 7:30 pm in the Leonard Nimoy Thalia. Conceived by the two organizations, it is produced and directed by Symphony Space's Artistic Director, Laura Kaminsky. The Day Before brings together more than 60 composers, writers, filmmakers, and visual artists to contribute original work around the theme November 21, 1963: The Day Before. Sparked by the 50th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy's assassination, this moving production reimagines the world as it was on the eve of that tragic and cataclysmic day.
The actor and director Avi Hoffman is organizing two staged readings in October. The first, a new play 'Rough Patch' by Charles Gluck, will get off to a 'smooth' start on Monday October 7 at 6pm, at the Roy Arias Studios, at the Times Square Arts Center, 300 West 43rd Street.

Some of Broadway's best will take the stage at New York's Symphony Space on 7 October 2013 to celebrate the American music of Kurt Weill. Weill specialist James Holmes, who conducted a fully staged production of Venus at England's Opera North in 2004, music directs, and Richard Jay-Alexander directs.

Long celebrated for his unique brand of contemporary choreography that combines powerful athleticism with profound emotional sensitivity, Takehiro (Take) Ueyama did not disappoint his opening night audience on Friday, September 27th at Peter Norton Symphony Space, Broadway at 95th Street. The program, which was repeated on September 28th, treated Take's fans to the world premiere of his 'Dark Mourning' as well as the world premiere of Kazuko Hirabayashi's 'A Baited Soul'. The closing piece was a favorite staple of Take's repertoire, his critically acclaimed 'Flight'.
Jacob Keith Watson recently made the move from Arkansas to New York. In 2012, Jacob won the Lotte Lenya Competition for singing actors. This past February, Jacob toured Germany performing a Golden Age Broadway concert and in October, he will be performing alongside Broadway stars at Symphony Space in Kurt Weill on Broadway.

Symphony Space celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with a family concert featuring Mister G. The show, celebrating the release of Mister G's new bilingual album ABC Fiesta, continues the 2013-14 Just Kidding season. The all-ages show begins at 11 am on Saturday, October 12th. On Friday, October 25 (7:30 pm), Krzysztof Penderecki, "Poland's greatest living composer" (The Guardian) graces the stage of Symphony Space's Leonard Nimoy Thalia for a live event hosted byHelga Davis, contributing host on Q2 Music, WQXR's online station devoted to contemporary classical music. The event is presented as part of Symphony Space's In the Salon series, in partnership with Q2 Music and the Polish Cultural Institute New York, with support from the Ontario Arts Council and the Canada Council for the Arts.
