Danny Kaye was world famous as a star of Vaudeville, theatre, film, and television; Sylvia Fine was his primary songwriter, his mentor, his motivator, and his wife. These two - each strong and fascinating personalities in their own right - are the subjects of Danny Kaye and Sylvia: A Musical Love Story, which will open at the Willow Theater in Boca Raton's Sugar Sand Park on January 13th, and run through January 29th. The show has played to sold out houses in London, New York, and Washington, D.C.

Ricky Ritzel's Broadway returns to Don't Tell Mama on Sunday, Oct. 4th at 8PM with music and laughs from 'Ben Franklin in Paris,' 'Damn Yankees' and 'Gypsy.' The series, running since summer, is fashioned after Sylvia Fine Kaye's 'Musical Comedy Tonight' PBS programs from the 1970s. Each installment of Ricky Ritzel's Broadway, lauded as 'extraordinary' by Theater Pizzazz, highlights songs and stories from Broadway musicals with a star studded revolving cast. Ritzel, a widely admired performer and denizen of New York piano bars and the Cabaret world, gives wry commentary as well as accompanying the performers on piano.

Yesterday, the creative team of GHOSTLIGHT the musical announced that Leigh Martha Klinger will play the leading role of 'Olive Thomas' in next month's high profile staged reading of the show. Today, they have announced that Kimberly Faye Greenberg (DANNY AND SYLVIA) and Abigail Ludrof (The HVAC PLAYS) has joined the cast as 'Fanny Brice' and 'Molly Cook', respectively.

New York, NY – The Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC) continues its 10th anniversary celebratory season with three concerts in April, reflecting BAC's expanded series of music programming for 2015. The weeklong celebration begins Monday, April 6 at 7:30pm, with one of BAC's signature events – a BAC Salon – in the Howard Gilman Performance Space, featuring the chamber music of Berio, Cage, and Mozart in an intimate salon setting. On Wednesday, April 8 at 7:30pm, composer and jazz pianist Stephen Prutsman will perform the entirety of his album Passengers for the first time ever, in another BAC Salon in the Howard Gilman Performance Space. The final performance of the week, on Saturday, April 11 at 8pm in the Jerome Robbins Theater, features the Latvian National Choir, hailing from BAC Artistic Director Mikhail Baryshnikov's birthplace of Riga and bringing to New York a program that includes music by Arvo Pärt, Grammy nominee Ugis Praulins, and the U.S. premieres of works by acclaimed Latvian composers Jekabs Janchevskis, Gundega Smite, and Raimonds Tiguls. The Latvian National Choir last appeared in New York as part of the 2010 White Light Festival at Lincoln Center, in performances The New York Times described as “ravishing.”

When Mark Nadler, singing the iconic Irving Berlin song and Al Jolson standard 'Let Me Sing and I'm Happy,' strolls from the back of 54 Below to his rightful place center stage (accompanied by Nick Russo on banjo), he seems, in all respects, a jaunty, debonair thespian. (The artist designates himself as a 'functional' sufferer of the compulsion.) Memorable anecdotes enlighten and entertain. 'In the spirit of Kaye and Jolson, however, this show is all about ME.' Four decades in, Nadler calls show business his religion. Judging by ensuing narrative, his zealous devotion is, in context, worthy of sainthood.

Robert Cuccioli, the Tony nominated star of Jekyll and Hyde, will play Florenz Ziegfeld, Jr. in an upcoming industry reading of the musical Ghostlight. Ghostlight, which has book, music and lyrics by Matthew Martin and Tim Realbuto, tells the true story of Ziegfeld Follies girl and silent film star Olive Thomas, her rise to fame in the Follies alongside Fanny Brice, her affair with a married Ziegfeld, her Hollywood marriage to movie star Jack Pickford, and ultimately her tragic downfall which led to her mysterious death at age 25 in Paris.

Iconic entertainer and humanitarian Danny Kaye was honored as his namesake sandwich joined the menu of the famed NYC staple in his Centennial year. Last night, the Library of Congress hosted a special evening to celebrate the Centennial of legendary comedian, actor and humanitarian Danny Kaye and his wife Sylvia Fine Kaye.

In conjunction with its exhibition "Danny Kaye and Sylvia Fine: Two Kids from Brooklyn," the Library of Congress will present events on Saturday, March 23, focusing on the versatile entertainers.
