STAGE TUBE: On This Day 4/18- THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE

Today in 2002, Thoroughly Modern Millie opened at the Marquis Theatre, where it ran for 903 performances. Thoroughly Modern Millie is a musical with music by Jeanine Tesori, lyrics by Dick Scanlan, and a book by Richard Morris and Scanlan. Based on the 1967 film of the same name, it tells the story of a small-town girl, Millie Dillmount, who comes to New York City to marry for money instead of love - a thoroughly modern aim in 1922, when women were just entering the workforce. The production subsequently won six 2002 Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Actress in a Musical for Sutton Foster.

Sutton Foster Headed Back to Small Screen; TV Land Orders YOUNGER to Series

According to Deadline, TV Land has ordered Darren Star's YOUNGER, starring Foster, Hilary Duff, Debi Mazar, and Miriam Shor to series for a 12-episode first season. The single-camera project, which is written, executive produced and directed by Star, is based on the novel YOUNGER by Pamela Redmond Satran.

Off-Broadway's DISASTER! Plays Final Performance Tonight

DISASTER!, the 1970s disaster movie musical comedy, will play its final performance Off-Broadway tonight, April 11th, after a smash six-month run at the St. Luke's Theatre (308 W. 46th Street). Disaster! began previews on October 14th, 2013 and opened to critical acclaim on November 4th, 2013. The musical, which performs in repertory with other productions at the St. Luke's Theatre, will have played 11 previews and 86 performances at the time of its closing.

Off-Broadway's TIL DIVORCE DO US PART Plays Final Performance on 4/13

Photo Flash: In the Recording Studio with the Cast of VIOLET!

The cast of Violet is in the recording studio today, recording the cast album of Violet on April 7, 2014. This Original Broadway Cast Recording, a two-disc set, will be released by PS Classics on June 3. The production is currently playing at the American Airlines Theatre through August 10, 2014. THe cast has been busy tweeting and intagramming from the recording booth today and you can check out a roundup of their photos below!

ATC to Present HOLDING THE MAN at Matrix Theatre, 5/10-6/29

Writer, actor and activist Timothy Conigrave's best-selling memoir (winner of the United Nations Human Rights Award for Non-Fiction and listed as one of the '100 Favorite Australian Books' by the Australian Society of Authors) is one of Australia's great love stories. The stage version by Tommy Murphy captures all its special magic. Producers Nick Hardcastle and Nate Jones launch their newly formed Australian Theatre Company with the Los Angeles premiere of Holding the Man, featuring an all-Australian cast and directed by veteran Hollywood acting coach Larry Moss. Opening night is May 10 at the Matrix Theatre.
