Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene of Monaco finished her trip to the United States at the Princess Grace Foundation-USA (PGF-USA) Awards Gala last night at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York. HSH Princess Charlene presented the Prince Rainier III Award to Cicely Tyson, which recognizes a renowned leader in the arts whose own accomplishments are coupled with demonstrated service to the performing arts. Taking the form of a minstrel show, The Scottsboro Boys tells the shameful story of nine boys arrested from a train in Alabama and accused and convicted of a crime they didn't commit.

Musical Theatre West at the Richard and Karen Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach, CA opens its 61st season with Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein, a musical comedy from the creative team of the 12-time Tony Award winning smash hit The Producers. The production, with music and lyrics by Brooks and a book by Thomas Meehan, marks the regional theater premiere of this hilariously tuneful show based on the 1974 smash hit film Young Frankenstein which was a wickedly inspired re-imagining of the Mary Shelley classic from the comic genius of Mel Brooks.

The Young Vic and Catherine Schreiber opened the UK premiere of The Scottsboro Boys, directed by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman. The production stars original Broadway cast members Colman Domingo, who reprises his Tony Award nominated role of Mr. Bones, and Forrest McClendon, who plays Mr. Tambo. Also in the Young Vic cast fresh from Broadway are Christian Dante-White (Charles Weems) and Clinton Roane (Roy Wright).

Classic Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Greg Reiner, announced today that acclaimed avant-garde performance artist Justin Vivian Bond will star in the company's upcoming new production of Bertolt Brecht's A MAN'S A MAN as Leokadia Begbick, canteen proprietress (a role originated by Brecht's wife Helene Weigel), beginning performances Friday, January 10 at CSC (136 East 13thStreet). A MAN'S A MAN will be directed by Brian Kulick and feature a new score and new songs by Tony Award-winning composer Duncan Sheik. Kulick and Shiek collaborated on last season's production of Brecht's The Caucasian Chalk Circle at CSC. Tickets for A MAN'S A MAN will go on sale December 12.

American Dance Machine for the 21st Century (ADM21) will present a benefit evening of classic musical theater dance numbers from A Chorus Line, Contact, Jerome Robbins' Broadway, 42nd Street and Promises! Promises on Monday, November 11 at New York City Center, Studio Five at 7:00 p.m. Each piece has been coached by artists intimately involved in their original productions. The evening will be directed by Artistic Director Margo Sappington and feature live music with musical direction by Eugene Gwozdz. ADM21 is a new non-profit dance company founded by Executive Director Nikki Feirt Atkins, dedicated to creating a living and vibrant archive of classic and current notable musical theater choreography.

The Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF) proudly reveals this season's Joe A. Callaway Award winners for Direction and Choreography from more than 200 eligible productions in the 2012 - 2013 New York City theatre season. This year's awards will be presented to Ruben Santiago-Hudson for his direction of The Piano Lesson produced by Signature Theatre and Marlo Hunter for her choreography of Unlock'd produced by Prospect Theater Company.
