The Humana Festival of New American Plays, Actors Theatre of Louisville's main venue for producing new work, is an annual event held in February and March.

On Tuesday November 11th at 5:00 PM, The Drama Book Shop located on 250 W. 40th Street will be celebrating the release of the latest volume of the critically-acclaimed series Best American Short Plays and its new editor, Barbara Parisi.

The mundane becomes sinister for six people in a darker, deadly, nearly decimated New York City, ten years hence. Boyfriends bicker - and one of them might be sick. A young girl gets ready for school - chaperoned by her mother's bodyguard. A patient consults her doctor - who offers what kind of procedure exactly? Trapped in a hospital elevator, the characters collide almost comically and splinter apart quite tragically, grappling with the severity and confusion of life at the end. As the world falls apart, the ties that bind break, unleashing questions long avoided, resentments long ignored, and confrontations long postponed.

Theater for the New City 'New City, New Blood' Readings Series presents 'At the End' by Billy Finnegan and directed by Nela Wagman on Monday, April 28, 7:30pm.

The 2008 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize has been awarded to Judith Thompson for her critically acclaimed play Palace of the End, marking the first time a Canadian writer has received the prestigious playwriting award's highest honor. Thompson received $20,000 and a signed and numbered print by artist Willem de Kooning at a special 30th Anniversary ceremony on Monday, March 10th at the Alley Theatre in Houston, Texas where Ms. Blackburn first became involved in theatre.

Vital Theatre Company is pleased to present its twelfth installment of 'Vital Signs,' the company's annual new works festival. The three-part series begins Thursday, November 29 at 7PM, and runs Thursday through Sunday until December 16.
