The New York Civil Liberties Union, the New York State affiliate of the ACLU, just welcomed a star-studded lineup for its annual benefit concert. 'Broadway Stands Up for Freedom,' a celebratory event in honor of the recent Supreme Court victory for the freedom to marry, boasted performances by some of Broadway's finest last night at the NYU Skirball Center for Performing Arts (566 LaGuardia Place).

The 20th edition of the Lincoln Center Festival, which runs through August 2, 2015 will unfold in six venues on and off the Lincoln Center campus. There will be a total of 58 performances by artists and ensembles from Germany, China, England, Ireland, Russia, USA, and Japan.

During a recent performance of Broadway's HAND TO GOD, an audience member quietly made his way up on the stage of the hit comedy to plug his cell phone in to what he believed to be a working outlet.

Dear readers, it had been about a year since my previous trip back to the Mothership (a.k.a. New York) and I felt it was time for a recharge of my Broadway batteries, even if it could only be a quickie. Well let me tell you there is plenty of awesome happening out there to catch. Now I only caught five of them but they were all amazing. THE 69TH ANNUAL TONY AWARDS, aired live from Radio City Music Hall, Sunday, June 7 (8:00-11:00 PM, live ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network. Producer Kevin McCollum has announced that his Tony Award-nominated new comedy Hand to God-which for the week ending June 7, 2015 saw its highest grosses yet on Broadway-is now on sale into the new year.  Previously available through October 4, 2015, Hand to God can now be purchased through January 24, 2016.  The production opened on April 7, 2015 at The Booth Theatre (222 West 45th Street).  For more info, visit www.HandToGodBroadway.com.

The Actors' Equity Foundation's 2015 Clarence Derwent Awards for most promising female and male performers on the New York metropolitan scene have gone to Phillipa Soo (Hamilton) and Josh Grisetti (It Shoulda Been You).
