The American Theatre Wing announced today that its annual gala, held this past Monday evening at the Plaza Hotel, was the most successful in the organization's history, raising over $750,000 (besting the previous record, which was set in 2013, by more than $50,000). All proceeds from the evening will benefit the education and outreach programs of the American Theatre Wing, which include SpringboardNYC, the Theatre Intern Network, the National Theatre Company Grants and the Jonathan Larson Grants, and will also support free access for students, aspiring professionals, and the general public to programming on AmericanTheatreWing.org, including the long running 'Working in the Theatre' media program.

Disney Theatrical Productions just announced full casting for the eagerly anticipated North American tour of Broadway's Tony® Award-winning smash hit musical, Disney's NEWSIES. Rehearsals began on Wednesday, September 3 in New York City in preparation for the first performance on Saturday, October 11 in Schenectady, NY at Proctors. During its first year of touring in the 2014-15 season, the production will play 25 cities, over 43 weeks.

The Actors Fund's annual gala yesterday raised a record-breaking $1.6 million, as a sold-out audience at the New Amsterdam Theatre witnessed stars of 20 years of Disney on Broadway in highlights from the producing powerhouse's history of award-winning shows. The evening honored the creative collaborators and staff members of Disney Theatrical Productions as they celebrate 20 years on Broadway. Formed in 1994 and operating under the direction of president and producer Thomas Schumacher, Disney received the Medal of Honor, the highest award given by the 132-year old non-profit human services organization. In addition, Fund CEO Joseph P. Benincasa received The Fund's honor for 25 years of service to the creative community.

San Diego Musical Theatre announces Irving Berlin's ANNIE GET YOUR GUN, (press opening on Saturday, May 10) at the North Park Theatre.

THE COLUMN Awards honors excellence in theater (Equity and Non-Equity) within the Dallas-Fort Worth Theatre community. The holiday musical will run on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center, tonight, Nov. 16 - Dec. 28. Monty Python's Spamalot is currently making it's Southeast Regional premiere at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina on Hilton Head Island. This June, Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma will return to the Civic Center Music Hall with a high-flying, powerful production of TARZAN, starring New York-based actor Nicholas Rodriguez as the title character. Running June 25-29, the show will mark the beginning of Lyric's four-show, 50th Anniversary Summer Season and will feature an original set by Helen Hayes Award-winning scenic designer Adam Koch and Oklahoma City artist Erin Latham.

Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma today announced major casting decisions for its 50thAnniversary Season in 2013, featuring new and returning national talent including Nicholas Rodriguez, Heather Botts,Steve Blanchard, Heather Botts, Alan Muraoka, Lyn Cramer, Kristy Cates, Tom Flagg, Erin Bowman, Derrick Cobey and more. All four shows-TARZAN, THE KING AND I, THE WILL ROGERS FOLLIES and BIG RIVER-will be performed at the Civic Center Music Hall in Oklahoma City.

Initial casting has been announced for Arts Center of Coastal Carolina's production of "Spamalot". Broadway's Steve Blanchard (Beauty and the Beast) and Meredith Inglesby (The Little Mermaid), are set to star as King Arthur and The Lady of the Lake respectively.
