Ken Schatz & Rufus Collins to Head the Cast of THE LIBERTINE 5/14-5/30

Ken Shatz (the Obie Award-winning productions of Crowbar and Bad Penny with En Garde Arts, King Lear opposite Andre de Shields at Classical Theatre of Harlem) and Rufus Collins (seen recently in the acclaimed Manhattan Theatre Club revival of The Royal Family, other Broadway credits include To Be or Not to Be, The Homecoming, and A Day in the Death of Joe Egg), will head the cast of Stephen Jeffreys' period play The Libertine, which will have a limited engagement at the Chernuchin Theater from May 14th-May 30th.

The Public Theater Announces Their 55th Anniversary Season, Kicks Off 11/26

The Public Theater's Artistic Director Oskar Eustis and Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson announced the line-up today for The Public's 55th Anniversary Season beginning in September with the long-awaited New York premiere of Elevator Repair Service's acclaimed GATZ, a literary tour de force where 13 actors and an audience experience every word of The Great Gatsby in a two-part, 6 1/2-hour theatrical event, running September 26-October 31, 2010.

The Great Game: Afghanistan - a festival exploring Afghan culture and history through twelve plays, a five day film programme, a ceramic exhibition and discussion sessions returns to the Tricycle Theatre for a limited run from 23 July until 29 August 2010 with a press day on 31 July.

Beatles Film 'Backbeat Closes at Glasgow Citizens Theatre, 3/6

The Glasgow Citizens Theatre will present a stage adaptation of the 1994 British feature film 'Backbeat,' a chronicle of the Beatle's largely unfamiliar 'Hamburg Years.' Performances Feb. 9, 2010, prior to an official opening Feb. 12, for a run through March 6, 2010.

Annette Bening, who plays the famed feminist in playwright Joanna Murray-Smith's comedy The Female of the Species, will be sharing the Geffen Playhouse stage with a diverse group of acclaimed actors: David Arquette (Scream, Never Been Kissed), Tony Award nominee Mireille Enos (Big Love, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf on Broadway), Merritt Wever (Nurse Jackie), Julian Sands (A Room with a View, Boxing Helena) and Josh Stamberg (Drop Dead Diva). The production is helmed by Geffen Playhouse Artistic Director Randall Arney and begins in previews on February 2 with an official opening night of Wednesday, February 10, 2010.
