SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL Opens in Storrs, 6/16

Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT), the professional producing arm of the Department of Dramatic Arts at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, continues its 2011 Nutmeg Summer Series with Seussical The Musical. It's the summer event that's a family 'must-do', featuring The Cat in the Hat and Horton Hears a Who! Tickets for children and students are just $10! Seussical The Musical runs June 16-26 in the Nafe Katter Theatre on the UConn Storrs campus. The preview performance takes places this Thursday, June 16 at 7:30 p.m. and Opening Night is this Friday, June 17 at 8:00 p.m.

Completing the theater company's line-up is the New York premiere of MAPLE & VINE, a new play by Jordan Harrison (Doris to Darlene at Playwrights Horizons, Act a Lady, Amazons and Their Men), directed by Obie Award winner Anne Kauffman (The Thugs, Stunning, Naked Angels' This Wide Night, Mr. Harrison's Act a Lady).

Sylvester Stallone was an unexpected guest at the SISTER ACT opening last night. Not one to frequest the Broadway red carpets, Stallone revealed on The View this morning that part of the reason for his attendance was because he's thinking about bringing one of his movies to the stage. Though no announcement has been made regarding a new stage adaptation, back in 2007, Stallone was busy developing ROCKY: THE MUSICAL. Could Rocky Balboa on the Great Way Way be a reality once again?
