BWW Review: The Engeman's GOD OF CARNAGE

Having seen a previous less-than-stellar local production of Yasmina Reza's Tony winning play God Of Carnage, I'm thrilled that Long Island's John W. Engeman Theatre has added it to their season this year. Leave it to The Engeman to redeem a show. This intelligent and well-executed incarnation runs through March 6th at the gorgeous Northport venue.

The hustle and bustle of the Christmas season is about to get under way and, as always, the John W. Engeman Theatre excellently delivers a fabulous holiday production. This years' offering, running through January 4th, is the musical Miracle On 34th Street by Meredith Willson based on the classic movie.

Boston Midsummer Opera to Present MARTHA, 7/29-8/2

Celebrating its tenth season production, the Boston Midsummer Opera (BMO) will present Friedrich von Flotow's charming romantic comedy, Martha.  Performed in English, fully staged and costumed, Martha will be presented at the Tsai Performance Center, Boston University for three performances only, July 29, 21 and August 2.

Odyssey Opera, a Boston-­??based opera company dedicated to exploring the full spectrum of adventurous repertoire, today announced THE BRITISH INVASION, a month-­??long opera festival of fully-­??staged productions of works by English composers. From May 17-­??June 20, Boston opera lovers will have the unique opportunity to choose from four evening-­??length programs encompassing nine diverse operatic works, including the Boston premiere of Vaughan Williams's Sir John in Love, a double bill of Walton's The Bear and Sullivan's The Zoo, five compelling monodramas, and Ade?s's masterpiece of modern cultural commentary, Powder Her Face. KC Rep's 50th Anniversary Season Opens with David Cromer's OUR TOWN Tonight

Kansas City Repertory Theatre will open its 50th anniversary celebration with the Kansas City premiere of David Cromer's Our Town, an enduring American story which examines the everyday lives of an average town's citizens in the early twentieth century. Our Town, one of the greatest American plays written by Thornton Wilder, the three-time Pulitzer prize-winning playwright and novelist will be directed by David Cromer, MacArthur Foundation 'genius' grant recipient and director of KC Rep's 2009 production of The Glass Menagerie which received national and local critical acclaim. This co-production with UMKC Theatre will feature redesigned seating at Spencer Theatre in the James C. Olson performing Arts Center on the UMKC campus. The show will run tnight, September 5 through 28th.

Michael Ajao, Paul Bigley, Arthur Byrne and More Set for OUR TOWN at the Almeida Theatre - Full Cast Announced!

Casting is announced for Our Town at the Almeida Theatre. Award-winning US actor-director David Cromer will direct and perform in this intimate version of Thornton Wilder's iconic American play. The cast will also include Michael Ajao, Paul Bigley, Arthur Byrne, Sidney Cole, Kate Dickie, Laura Elsworthy, Anna Francolini, Matthew Jacobs-Morgan, Daniel Kendrick, Simon Lennon, Jessica Lester, Richard Lumsden, Annette McLaughlin, Christopher Staines, Rhashan Stoneand David Walmsley.

Hidden identities, secret bargains and a dancing bear...can love possibly find its way? All will be revealed when Boston Midsummer Opera (BMO) presents its ninth season production, The Bartered Bride. Bedich Smetana's comic masterpiece - with its infectious tunes, rollicking ensembles and inventive humor which have long made it an audience favorite - will be fully staged and costumed and presented at the Tsai Performance Center, Boston University for three performances only, today, July 23, and July 25 and 27.
