It has been one of the most anticipated productions of the summer, and the demon barber of Fleet Street has finally arrived in Houston. Generations, A Theatre Company is known for its outstanding summer musical productions, and with every production they continue set the bar higher for the year to come. This summer, their production of SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET fully exceeds all expectations and blows us away with dazzling and beautiful performances. Since it first debuted on Broadway in 1979 this garish 'musical thriller' has delighted audiences all over the world. Generations' Artistic Director George Brock promises that the show, produced in association with Rice University's Department of Visual and Dramatic Arts and opening tonight, July 5th, 2013 at Hamman Hall, will offer a different look at this timeless tale of obsession and revenge.

Patriotism seems to be a running theme in the Houston theatre scene this summer, and each piece is just as mesmerizing as the one before it. Generations: A Theatre Company's fantastic contribution to this summer's theme of patriotism is Alex Timbers and Michael Friedman's Wild West, rock anthem filled musical BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON.

Andrew Jackson, that guy on the twenty dollar bill and the United States' infamous seventh president, is alive and well in Houston. Remembered for the Indian Removal Act and initiating what would later be called Jacksonian Populism, this iconic badass president is the central character in Michael Friedman's comedic Wild West rock musical BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON, which is being produced this month by Houston's Generations: A Theatre Company. George Brock, founding Artistic Director for Generations and Director of BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON, assembled a panel of his cast, crew, and creative team to discuss the rip-roaringly raucous show and why you MUST see it!

The 2011 Tommy Tune Awards winners have been announced! To a crowd of more than 2,000 people, Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) declared the winners of TUTS' ninth annual Tommy Tune Awards on the evening of Wednesday, April 20, at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts.

John C. Breckenridge, President and CEO of Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS), announced today the nominations and presenters for TUTS' ninth annual Tommy Tune Awards which will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. Developed by TUTS, the Tommy Tune Awards honor musical theatre excellence at the high school level. Presenters this year will include Houston-area native, Humphreys School of Musical Theatre (HSMT) graduate and cast member in Broadway's revival of La Cage Aux Folles, Logan Keslar. Also presenting will be last year's Tommy Tune Award winner for Best Leading Actress, Stephanie Styles. To complete the evening, the ceremony's namesake, Tommy Tune, will be a special guest presenter for one of the awards.
