The New York Post's gossip icon Cindy Adams has returned from Washington, D.C and her exhaustive coverage of all the behind the scenes action at the Inaugural and brings a slew of Broadway related news with her. What is of most interest is the fact Will Ferrell hinted that his currently in previews 'You're Welcome America. A Final Night with George W Bush' may be looking at extending. The show is gaining excellent word of mouth (including Cindy herself) and an extension would not be a surprise. There is no official word regarding such a move at this time, well keep you posted. Also announced was Nightlife Legend Honoree Karen Akers who will, as trumpeted by the Nightlife Awards, make no acceptance speech but, instead, perform! And yet another winner has been found and agreed to come to Town Hall to perform: Steven Bernstein's Millennial Territory Orchestra (Outstanding Jazz Combo). Also announced today were guest stars Keith Carradine and Jim Caruso.
So far, eleven of the thirteen award categories will be represented with a performance by their winners! Composer and lyricist Scott Alan returned to Birdland on January 12th for a concert featuring a starry line-up of Broadway performers. The January 12th performance featured selections from Alan's debut CD, 'Dreaming Wide Awake' and his recently released CD 'Keys.'
