MEDICINE SHOW THEATRE ENSEMBLE, one of NYC's longest-running experimental theatres, is pleased to announce the World Premiere of 'DOUBLE FEATURE,' an evening of two cinematically-inspired short plays by JOHN GRUEN. The production plays from March 19th through April 19th with an opening set for Friday, March 27th. Lust and loneliness meet love in this uncharacteristic coupling of characters. Lanford Wilson's 38th play first opened in Los Angeles in January 1987 and put John Malkovich on the ?international' road to stardom shortly afterwards. Garnering multiple awards in several categories, and written with a ?pas de quatre' style in mind, this contemporary and romantic story begins shortly after a funeral brings four self-distancing and comical characters together.

ALLIES, a new rock musical featuring the songs of the legendary band Heart, will be presented in concert version at BLVD ( 199 Bowery at Spring St) on Monday, January 26th at 9:00 p.m. Industry and the general public are invited to make reservations on the show's official website at www.alliesthemusical.com. ALLIES features a book by Celina Carvajal and Maggie F. Levin. The staged concert will be directed by Sam Buggein. Paul Leschen is the music director. Ryan Bogner (Bedbugs!!!, Hey, You Know What Movie Would Make A Good Musical?) will read the stage directions. South Coast Repertory will revive the musical play Indian Summer, one of the theatre's most popular Educational Touring Productions, for travel to Southland elementary schools Jan. 21 - April 4, 2009. There will be a free public performance at SCR on Jan. 26. Set in the mid-19th century, Indian Summer is based on the true story of a young boy who grows up with a Native American tribe. The play directly supports California K-6 State Frameworks for History-Social Science, English-Language Arts and Visual and Performing Arts. John-David Keller directs the show written by Richard Hellesen with music and lyrics by Michael Silversher. Indian Summer features Matt Bartosch, Daniel Behnke, Eagle Young and Ellen D. Williams. Bartosch and Behnke are recent graduates of SCR's Professional Intensive Program. Sets and costumes are designed by Angela Balogh Calin. Kathleen Allison is stage manager. For over 40 years, SCR's Educational Touring Production has introduced children to theater by commissioning original musical plays which deal with important issues and making them available to Southern California elementary schools during the winter and spring. The tour reaches nearly 35,000 school children each year. Some of them will be experiencing live theater for the first time. Others will discover that their parents (or even their grandparents) saw the show when they were in elementary school.

Swandive Studio (Lisa Snyder, Founder) announces details of its upcoming joint productions of See Bob Run and Wild Abandon, both written by Daniel MacIvor. See Bob Run is directed by Benjamin Watson and features Lisa Snyder as 'Bob'; Wild Abandon is directed by Ruis Woertendyke and features Max Woertendyke as 'Steve.' These solo-performer one-acts will run in conjunction. Performances begin Wednesday, January 7th for a limited run through Saturday, January 24th at Center Stage, NY (48 West 21st Street, 4th floor).
